Band: Villagers of Ioaninna City @villagersofioanninacity
Album: Venceremos
Year: 2026
°
°
I have to admit I approached this album with some reservations. Honestly, after Age of Aquarius, I assumed everything else would feel like a step down… And well, comparisons are odious. Maybe the singles don’t quite click on the first listen… but they do on the second. It’s an album that retains the Villagers’ identity — bagpipes, Greek folk and progressive touches, perhaps slightly less folk-oriented than their previous releases, it has to be said. The whole thing feels balanced: there are no dissonances, nothing particularly stands out, but it never loses momentum either.

Year: 2006
•
•
English: Skillet formed in Memphis in 1996, and ten years later, with John and Korey Cooper, Ben Kasica and Lori Peters, they dropped Comatose. Alternative rock with muscle, heavy guitars and choruses that stick in your head. It’s not the most sophisticated album in the world, but it has something that matters: songs that work and make you turn the volume up.

Band: Boundaries @boundariesct
Album: Yearning: The unbeautiful after
Year: 2026
•
•
English: Yearning: The Unbeautiful After by Boundaries is metalcore/metallic hardcore that takes you on a proper trip. Heavy riffs, neck-breaking breakdowns and a dark-as-fuck atmosphere. No bullshit: raw, aggressive music with a seriously nasty edge.

Band: Fires in the Distance
Album: Circadian Promise
Year: 2026
°
°
English: I finally had the chance to give this album the attention it truly deserves. Perhaps the element of surprise wasn't quite there for me, since I was already familiar with your previous releases. Even so, I still think they have a truly distinctive take on melodic death metal, packed with memorable melodies and perfectly blended growls. The band relies heavily on lush analog synth pads—or convincing analog-style emulations—drenched in reverb and delay, with the high frequencies carefully rolled off to create a warm, velvety, enveloping texture. Rather than carrying the melodies themselves, these synths build a continuous atmospheric backdrop that bridges melodic death metal and atmospheric doom, giving the music its unmistakable glacial sense of depth and melancholy.

Band: Vision Divine @visiondivineofficial
Album: Clockwork Reverie
Year: 2026
°
°
English: Hey, this is that kind of power metal you’d just put on and let run all the way through. Clockwork Reverie is exactly that: fast guitars, a strong vocal performance, and songs that grow on you with each listen until they just stick in your head.

Band: The Scalar Process @thescalarprocess
Album: Agnosmysticism
Year: 2026
°
°
English: Agnomysticism is the stellar second album by France's The Scalar Process. Led by Eloi Nicod, this technical death metal work shines with cosmic vibes. The album is amazing, but to me, the mix feels so crowded that the bass and drums end up getting buried in the chaos.
