Thank you, Bill Arning, for our first review of Clarity’s solo exhibition. Brave is such a wonderful word. So are uncompromising, vital and confrontational, which are equally valid of her practice. Also, this show is so full of joy! “Haynes has immortalized her friends as brave explorers of what it means to inhabit a body in a politically charged moment. We can only hope that the current retrograde epoch, when these heroes’ lives, liberty, and pursuit of happiness have become political pawns, will soon end. For now, we can cheer their embrace of their own inimitable beauty.” Link in bio. CLARITY HAYNES | Bodyology October 15 - November 28, 2026 New Discretions, New York by @newdiscretions
One of Vincent Tiley’s chic shibari paintings made it’s way into the French Architectural Digest. The whole series is so elegant. Bravo, Luke Haveke for having such good taste. Link in bio. In Live Sex Acts, Alix Vernet (b. 1997) explores the difficulty of tracing a history that has been almost entirely erased. After discovering a former Philadelphia peep show owned by the same proprietor as New York’s Show World, the largest of the Times Square clubs, Vernet tracked down remnants of its neoclassical awning and cast them in sculptural forms that resemble Ancient Greek ruins, a symbol of the fall of the man who was known as the “porn king” or “prince of porn”. In Viewers, a slide projector resembling both a peep show and a surveillance camera displays an original negative of the exterior of the building before its demolition. Vernet also recreates the peep show’s neon window lights in 60/40, referencing New York City’s adult-use zoning regulations that contributed to the disappearance of Times Square’s sex clubs. Together, these works reconstruct a vanished space through its surviving traces, reflecting on the fragility of subcultural histories and the difficulty of recovering what has been dismantled. #AlixVernet by @newdiscretions
Let’s talk about monsters. It is the season, after all. Vincent Tiley has been creating “whip balls” - whimsical and terrifying creatures which may or may not have some resemblance to virus or sea anemones. Leather-based, their materials shift and shimmy. This gorgeous bugger is chaos, literally leaking feathers and quills. Vincent likes them on the floor, crawling a bit. But they look perfect on a table. #vincenttiley #serpent #sculpture #leatherfeather #happyhalloween by @newdiscretions

One of the seven incredible curtains composed of sleazy literature covers by the brilliant artist and Times Square historian Scott Ewalt. Currently on display at TIMES SQUARE SPACE, 1500 Broadway (entrance at W 43rd Street) #scottewalt #timesquarespace #curtains #live***acts by @newdiscretions
This simple collage is such a wonderful thing. Half Lady Jaye fresh from some surgical modifications, half peek pandrogeny Genesis glamour. When Lady Jaye dropped her body, there was a moment when Genesis thought that they might deported as soon s/he had cheekily listed her sex as female. And this was before gay marriage was legal. It is wonderful to be an outlaw. It is equally wonderful to be protected. There is one print of this edition still available. BREYER P-ORRIDGE You Are My Other Half, 2007 Edition of 3 Pigment print 5 x 5 in (12.7 x 12.7 cm) 18 x 24 x 1 in (45.7 x 61 x 2.5 cm) Frame #breyerporridge #collage #newdiscretions by @newdiscretions

LIVE *** ACTS! Scott Ewalt, Vivienne Maricevic, Alix Vernet September 18 - November 15, 2026 Noon -6pm, Thursday through Saturday Times Square Space, 1500 Broadway, New York Enter on West 43rd Street Three artists form an archive of Times Square’s vibrant sex clubs, which were active from the late 1960s through the mid-1980s. There existed a dense, largely self-regulating ecosystem of s**clubs that operated in the space the city had abandoned. None of the works moralize or mythologize; rather, they are records made by artists who understood the value of what they were looking at before it was gone or who have returned to its traces. This exhibition opens at a moment when the political gains of the last several decades are being actively reversed, when bodies, desires, and the spaces that accommodate them are once again subject to legislation and erasure. In that context, an archive of Times Square’s sex culture is not a historical exercise but a reminder that these freedoms were always contingent, always contested, and always worth defending What grew in the clubs was a form of social life: anonymous, cross-class, and largely ungoverned. Crucially, it was where queer life organized itself outside the surveillance of mainstream culture and where art, activism, and sexuality overlapped. The darkened theaters and club backrooms offered freedom from judgment and taboo and, in doing so, created the conditions for a potent subculture. That culture had consequences that are still alive. by @newdiscretions
This is the last weekend to see Marianne Vitale’s On Liberty: A Summoning at SPACE Gallery in Pittsburgh. Such an amazing show. Thank you to the Trust, all the performers and, of course, the brilliant Marianne Vitale. This work is mostly decommissioned freight cars tuned into minimalist building blocks. It is magnificent work, testament to American empire. Vitale is one of the few artists who can be deadly fucking serious and fun at the same time. #mariannevitale #onliberty #sculpture #pittsburgh by @newdiscretions
