One of my favorite uses of AI is vibe-coding educational tools for subjects that have long been underserved.

Set Power Lab is an interactive electrical distribution simulator that lets film students “wire” a set and explore how technical decisions shape aesthetics on screen.

Amid all the slop, tools like this show the real potential of AI in education: turning complex lessons into hands-on experiences.

Great first day of shooting with the talented @newhousesu students at the @syracusemets!
This weekend’s workshop is a collaboration between Sony and the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, and it’s been a fantastic experience so far. We’re working one-on-one with students through portfolio reviews, presentations, image critiques, and plenty of hands-on shooting, with lots of awesome Sony gear!
A big thank you to the Newhouse School and Sony for giving me the opportunity to work alongside such talented students and faculty. And a special thanks to @syracusemets for the incredible hospitality and for giving us such a great environment to shoot. #SonyAlpha

😎I had the incredible opportunity to intern with SXSW as a Startup Researcher, which even earned me a free badge to attend SXSW 2026!

🎸🥰Attending the conference was truly eye-opening. As someone who's passionate about entrepreneurship and film, being surrounded by so many inspiring founders, creators, and innovators was an unforgettable experience. I met amazing people, learned countless new ideas, and left with so many cool perspectives and inspiration for the future.

I hope that sharing my experience can help anyone who's thinking about attending SXSW 2027!

A huge thank you to my supervisor, Savannah, for selecting me for the Startup Researcher position, and to Professor Branagan for letting me know about this amazing opportunity.

Congratulations to @newhousesu Assistant Professor of Visual Communications @newhouse_vis Michael Snyder | @michaelosnyder |! Snyder was recently awarded a Pulitzer Center Reporting Grant | @pulitzercenter | 📸

The $5,000 grant will support Snyder’s research agenda during his sabbatical, specifically a story he is working on in Tunisia called “The Last Octopus Hunters of Kerkennah.” This project is part of his work with @preservinglegacies.

When we say we have award-winning faculty, we mean it.

This past Friday, four Visual Communications faculty were recognized for teaching excellence across the country.

At the One University Awards, VIS represented 3 of the 5 Newhouse faculty honored by the Chancellor and Provost:
2026–29 Meredith Professor for Teaching Excellence: Renée Stevens
Meredith Professor Teaching Award for Continuing Excellence: Greg Heisler
Meredith Professor Teaching Award for Early Career Achievement: Jason Webb

At the same time, in Las Vegas at BEA:
Broadcast Education Association Innovation in Teaching Award: Milton Santiago

Jordan Kligerman | @jklig_orange | and Patrick MacDougall | @patrick_macdougall |, both @newhouse_trf faculty, won Best of Festival and Best of Competition (Long Form Sports Video) for their documentary, “Authentic ACC: Syracuse Spring Football,” while @newhouse_vis Assistant Professor Jason Webb | @mr_webb7 | won Best of Competition in the Interactive Media Category!

To wrap up the day at the upcoming Newhouse Impact Symposium, @newhouse_vis Assistant Professor Michael Snyder | @michaelosnyder | will share stories from Preserving Legacies, an initiative funded by @insidenatgeo. 🌎

Climate change is the fastest-growing threat to culturally significant places, and @preservinglegacies focuses on bringing cultural heritage preservation into the climate conversation. Snyder shares how community leaders are combining innovative science, indigenous knowledge, and community capacity building to create a future for our past.

Continuing our afternoon run at the upcoming Newhouse Impact Symposium is @newhouse_vis graduate student Zobayer Joti | @zobayerjoti |, sharing his documentary photography project, “We Live to Fight.” 📸

The project examines martial arts in Bangladesh through the lens of body politics, exploring how bodies are trained, controlled, displayed, neglected, and empowered, and revealing the intersections of history, power, gender, class, and resistance embedded in these fighting communities.
