The Funeral Rule of 1984 was written to protect you.

The Funeral Consumer Guardian Society (FCGS) wants families to be aware of their rights that is represented in this law. The rule allows you to compare prices of different funeral homes. The necessary information that is available to families and helps avoid overspending or buying things they don't need. Here are a few things that can be requested: General price list (GPL) a dated price list, telephone price disclosure - funeral homes have to give correct pricing over the phone, casket price list - also dated and an itemized statement of goods and services.
