What is Walk Into The Weekend. And what should I expect from this meetup.

Walk Into The Weekend is a Spokane meetup for adults to walk & talk, with the goal of making friends. I know trying something new & putting yourself out there can be anxiety-inducing, so wanted to share more information on what to expect, so you can plan ahead. See the slides above, but have also provided the breakdown below.
• Show up a little before 6pm at Mirror Pond, which is within Manito Park. Plan ahead, street parking is recommended.
• Locate the meetup starting point, look for the statue pictured (it's nearby a couple of picnic tables)!
• Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome to join. Please come prepared with doggy bags to cleanup after them.
• We try to start walking at 6pm, so your host will start pairing everyone up around then.
• You will get to walk & talk with two different people, for about 20 minutes each. Please stay on the pond pathway/loop, your host will help repair everyone halfway through.
• The meetup ends around 7pm, and the optional hangout will continue at Manito Tap House. This is optional, but is honestly the best time to meet others & start building friendships.
• You'll get seated randomly, continue the conversations and meet others over some food & drinks (we are sober friendly)!
The next meetup dates are pending, but the location will stay the same until weather permits. Will be brought indoors during winter months (likely the Northtown mall). taken in Manito Park by @newroots.spokane

Belonging. That is why New Roots Spokane was started. Growing up, I struggled to belong, never truly fitting into any group or culture. Everyone has their story & know I'm not the only one to experience that.
With that said, I'm rooting for those who have decided to show up for themselves in their friend-making journey 💚 It’s not always easy, and sometimes it’s awkward or uncomfortable, but you still chose to show up. That matters & wanted to let you know that. You deserve to belong.

Who had the funniest shirt? Making friends as an adult can be difficult; this is a more memorable way to do it! Meet Your People is a unique way to get to know new peeps. Everyone participates in an interest-matching question game & then we go hangout at the @radiobarspokane after (shout-out to our dope server Zach!)🥃

Congrats on the very first "Walk Into The Weekend" meetup for ages 40+🎉 The sunset was beautiful, and was really cool to see everyone open up as the time went on! It started with one or two post-walk dinner "maybes," and ended up with eight people going to grab food & drinks together 🍻🍷It's funny how that happens! Stay tuned for future 40+ meetups, Jeanette will be coordinating & hosting them in the near future✨

Our last Goofball Gardening Social meetup today was fun! @rcyouth509 staff will still need help next Thursday, October 1st from 5:30pm-7pm, so feel free to go volunteer! Located at West Central Abbey📍
We will likely return this series in the Spring, thank you to Sean & Willow for directing us all in the garden 🌱🫶🏻
Also enjoyed our post hangout at @jewelofthenorthspokane - looking forward to bringing the group here again after our October Walk Into The Weekend meetup 🍻

Last couple cleanups for 2026 are to be schedule, stay tuned! Meetups will start slowing down a bit due to life stuff happening & some seasonal depression kicking in, but have some ideas that are in the works. If you, or someone you know, would like to help with keeping New Roots Spokane meetups consistent (support is needed), my DMs are open 🤓
