Before the 1-1 draw between NYCFC and LAFC, members of the media got to tour @etihadpark and see the progress made toward completing New York City’s first soccer-specific stadium. Our @johnbaney51 was on the scene and provided all these photos, plus a thorough report on the state of Etihad Park and the team set to call it home starting next July. The stadium looks great, this NYCFC team less so, and for many reasons. Swipe through for the pics then head to NYSoccerJournal dot com, or the link in our bio, to read our full stadium progress report. taken in Etihad Park by @newyorksoccerjournal

Don Garber wants to draw a clear line between Major League Soccer’s business with City Football Group and CFG’s business in England (ie, the Manchester City charges). But, as @andrewleighnyc writes, it’s not that easy, especially while CFG CEO Ferran Soriano sits on influential #MLS committees and gets mentioned as a candidate for MLS commissioner.

First-half goals from Germán Berterame and Rodrigo De Paul (@rodridepaul) doomed New York City FC to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Inter Miami CF at Nu Stadium, making it a four-match winless streak and extending the suffering to just one win across NYCFC’s last 12 league matches.

Things come in 3s and that includes self-inflicted New York City FC errors to drop points. The Matt Freese giveaway against the Chicago Fire joined Tomás Romero’s non-save in Atlanta, and James Sands’ mishit pass vs #RBNY.

This 2027 US Open Cup qualifier was downright unhinged. Last Sunday in New Jersey, SC Vistula Garfield came from behind to beat amateur powers FC Motown in extra time. It was a match that had everything: wobbly goals delaying kickoff, a mid-match blackout, multiple red cards, a 43-year-old player/coach scoring an equalizer, and more!
