A bookshop + a ghost + a small Australian town? This feels very me. I am excited to start a new Australian cosy crime by @abbielmartinauthor

My first book after deciding to become a reader again probably wasn’t the lightest choice.

Educated challenged me in ways I didn’t expect — not only because of what Tara experienced, but because of my own reactions to some of her choices.

Her story made me think about family, identity, belonging, and just how difficult it can be to question the beliefs and people that have shaped your whole world.

A heavy read to start my reading journey again — but one I’m glad I chose. 📚

Have you ever read a memoir that made you question your own reaction to the person telling the story? taken in Perth, Western Australia by @nextchapterclub76

My kind of morning: a good book, a warm cup of tea, delicious food and 20 quiet minutes before the day gets going. 📚🫖

I’m learning that getting back into reading doesn’t need huge blocks of time — sometimes it’s just creating a little ritual you actually look forward to.

And if I can find a cosy café like @harvest_and_house to do it in? Even better. taken in Harvest & House by @nextchapterclub76

Ten minutes doesn’t sound like much — but lately I’ve realised it can be enough to keep the habit going.

Some days I read over breakfast. Other days I listen to the audiobook in the car or while exercising. It’s not always a long, uninterrupted reading session.

But those small pockets of time are adding up.

Are you someone who reads in little pockets of time too? taken in Perth, Western Australia by @nextchapterclub76

Two weeks ago I rediscovered my love of reading. I started with one simple goal: one chapter a day.

Now I’m more than halfway through Educated and An English Garden Murder — but the best part isn’t the number of chapters.

It’s that I’m starting to reach for a book without thinking about!

I only came in for a bookmark.

Somehow I was still wandering the shelves an hour later.

Picking up books.
Reading blurbs.
Finding things I didn’t know I needed.

Completely lost in it.

Sunday morning, and the first thing I wanted to do was snuggle up under a blanket and keep reading. 📚

I picked up An English Garden Murder because it had two things I already knew I loved: the Cotswolds and cosy crime.

It’s easy to read, but still makes me want to keep turning the pages.

And I think that’s the part I’m enjoying most: wanting to reach for a book first thing on a Sunday morning.

I’ve realised that getting back into reading doesn’t always have to mean sitting down with a book.

Audiobooks have become one of the easiest ways for me to fit more stories into everyday life — especially when I’m walking, driving or doing the things that don’t need my full attention.

I also like moving between the physical book and the audiobook version of the same title. It keeps me connected to the story, even when I don’t have time to sit and read.

For anyone trying to rebuild a reading habit, I think that flexibility can make all the difference.

And yes — I absolutely count audiobooks as reading. 📚🎧

Are you someone who reads, listens, or switches between both?

Is this what happens when you start reading again?

Suddenly books aren’t just something you read — they start appearing everywhere. 😂📚

A week ago I committed to one chapter a day.

Apparently I’ve now developed an entire bookish personality to go with it.

I used to love books, but somewhere along the way reading became one of those things I kept saying I wanted to do more of.

So this isn’t really about becoming a reader for the first time.

It’s about finding my way back to something I used to enjoy.

I’m learning that I don’t need endless free time, a huge reading goal or a perfectly quiet afternoon. I just need to make a little space for a book again.

If you’re also trying to get back into reading after a long break, rebuild your reading habit, or rediscover the kinds of books you love now, that’s exactly what this page is about. 📚☕

Three months ago, this beautiful library was my workplace. I’m back as a borrower. 📚

I recently moved from my managing this incredible library team at the City of Subiaco Library into a corporate role, but I still love coming back here — just now from the other side of the desk.

Today’s find was An English Garden Murder by Katie Gayle. Cosy crime is probably my favourite genre, so this was an easy pick.

I love buying books, but living in a small two-bedroom unit means I simply can’t buy every book I want to read. Borrowing from the library means I can try new authors, read more widely and save my limited shelf space for the books I really love enough to keep.

After working in libraries, I think I appreciate even more just how much they offer — access to thousands of stories without needing the space or the budget to own them all.

And for someone getting back into reading, that feels pretty perfect.

Are you a library borrower, a book buyer, or both?
