Make a tiny block for tiny areas, don’t be afraid to modify a block if you need to, this was the small denibbing block from our Prep and Detail kit and I cut it in half lengthwise to fit the job, cutting can be done on a bandsaw or even with a hacksaw, then sand the edges up so it’s clean and doesn’t have a jagged edges. #nextlevelblocks #customcars #wetsanding #sandingblocks #bodywork by @nextlevelblocks

So when you want a Matt finish on something like a firewall but the paint cutoff line will be up against the gloss finish on the car you’ll need to sand and polish that area first as it will be nearly impossible to do up to the paint break line after. So this was done in a gloss clear when the car was painted, then sanded with 800 wet, then the paint line area was sanded up to 3000 and polished, then masked up. I like the 3m fine line I show in the pics for mostly straight lines, it’s not great for tight curves. Then carefully sand with 800 and great scotchbrite back to the tape line, cleanup and we are ready for the matt finish. It’s a process but the end result is worth it. I’m using Sikkens Mix and Matt 250, mixed 75% low gloss with 25% semi gloss to get this sheen. #nextlevelblocks #autorefinishing #hotrods #sandingblocks #bodywork by @nextlevelblocks

Seam sealing is a time consuming step to get it really nice but it’s necessary. I like this 3m two part sealer although I do not put it over bare metal, I only put it over sanded epoxy primer but having a cut through or two is inevitable and knowing you have a bare metal compatible product is something I like. #nextlevelblocks #hotrods #3m #hotrodshop #autorefinishing by @nextlevelblocks

Did you know that any of our blocks can also be used for wet sanding, I like the blocks out of the Prep and Detail Kit to use wet but on occasion I’ll need others and it’s nice to know that you have that option if needed. #nextlevelblocks #wetsanding #blocksanding #autorefinishing #sandingblocks by @nextlevelblocks
