A couple of years ago I was invited to someone’s house. I didn’t know them, and loosely had just met the kid who invited me. Couple beers, a fire, guys round, nothing too crazy.
I sat in the corner, or as close as I could get to it. I’m naturally a pretty outgoing person, but I didn’t want to overstep, or seem like I was trying to be someone I wasn’t for the sake of ā€œgetting inā€.
They were rowdy, loud, and had a standing Coca cola fridge full of coors and miller high life.
And it smelled like hell.
As I monitored to situation from my humble folding chair provided to me upon kicking out the previous resident on my arrival to the backyard, I began to notice something.
Every one of them had a hyper self awareness in where they were, how they moved, seemingly knowing exactly where the others were without even having to look or call out a last name.
They moved quickly, fluidly, in one motion each of them, weaving and squeezing behind and amongst each other down the stairs and into the yard. There were some chirps down where I was and beer was thrown from the porch door on the deck above us, straight into their hands.
I knew they played hockey, I was told some of the team guys would be there.
But not the entire team.
This was their house, and I was plop right down in the middle of it, I had never even touched a hockey stick.
They welcomed me with open arms, many of them having already known who I was through some of my other work, but having never officially met until now.
It was November then, but I remember feeling warm that night.
I could’ve easily just been some random to them, but they made a point to make me feel at home.
And that night I became part of a family I never even knew.
Little did I know what that night would lead to, for me personally, or this company.
I didn’t even know Carolina had a hockey team.
As time went on I would go on to film a good bit with those guys, traveling here and there with them every so often, trying to soak up and capture every bit of it I could. I learned who they were, I learned the nicknames, the numbers, taught myself about positions and faceoffs, penalties and power plays. (1/2) by @nframemediaco

Some men will wait until greatness is presented to them, biding their time day in and out, making little of it.
•
•
•
Some men however, pursue greatness. They chase it with a hunger that cannot be satisfied, a thirst that cannot be quenched.
•
•
•
And it is these men, ones who charge forward everyday with relentless resolve of becoming what they set out to be, that are heralded and spoken of in legend.

If you have followed this page for a while, you will know this company has a motto, the meaning of which the entirety of NFrame Media is built on:

ā€œBe greatā€

It is not merely just words, but instead a reminder that each and everyday is a new opportunity to be the best you possibly can be, in the one take film of what we know as our lives.

It is motivation to strive towards something bigger than what you had previously achieved, or maybe had failed to achieve.

It is a testament to no matter how bad yesterday may have seemed, that tomorrow will be a better day, and that it is up to you to make it so.

It is a hello, and a goodbye. A sunrise and a sunset. Those we’ve loved, and those we’ve lost. The victories in little things, compounding together into the much larger perspective of our own self determined worth.

To push beyond what was thought impossible, to show others that it is indeed possible.

It looks different to everyone of us, and however you define greatness, it is each persons own personal meaning of the phrase that makes it special to them.

There is perhaps no better living example than those who go farther than the farthest sunset, are willing to travel distances beyond a discernible skyline. To achieve what they set out to be. No matter what.

And today, only just a few hours ago, someone has done just that.

With a final time of 11 days, 13 hours and 14 minutes,

An estimated elevation gain of over 80,000 feet,

Across over 3,065 miles,

At 60 years of age,

Finishing second overall in his age group,

NFrame Media and RAAM Team 550 proudly present to you:

Marshall Nord, an official finisher of Race Across America, the toughest cycling race in the world.

Thank you to each and every single one of our sponsors and donors, your contributions made this race possible for Marshall and our team.

To @raceacrossamerica event staff and media, our hats are off to you.

To @konaice coming alongside with endless support for Marshall all along the race route. Thank you for letting us be apart of your family and race under your banner, to Be Good, to Do Good, For Good.

And to everyone back home. We love you all so much.

Marshall is now 100 miles from the finish line in Atlantic City as he finalizes the ride through Maryland and into New Jersey.

As the he and the team count down the miles and cross off the last remaining time stations, they reflect on the miles behind them, and look forward to the celebration to come only mere hours away.

This is the push to the finish line.

We will see you all there.

As rain and clouds persist Marshall makes his way through the ups and downs of the forested West Virginia mountains.

A quick stop and a helpful push from the crew put him back on the road for a short ride through Maryland.

He is now over 2700 miles into the race, and closing the distance to the finish in Atlantic City one pedal at a time.

Contrary to popular online discourse, Ohio is in fact a very real place, full of very wonderful people!

Marshall is met again by a local franchise here in the great state of Ohio along the route of The Race Across America.

With the love and support felt by not only himself, but also members of the crew, it is just the pickup the team needed as they continue onward as the days countdown to the finish!

How incredible it is to be a part of this family, providing joy, smiles, and shaved ice to brighten the day.

Marshall’s spirit remains at an all time high as he cruises through the rollers of Missouri.

As more climbing approaches, he makes a swift bike change with the crew and presses onward.

As of now, the crew has calculated he is more than 15 hours ahead of his predicted schedule.

Marshall is now over HALFWAY through The Race Across America as the ride continues through Kansas!

As a celebration, he and the team make a quick pit stop to meetup with the wonderful folks from @konaiceofgreaterwichita !

The franchise manager, Mrs Shari Lewis, surprised Marshall with a personal sign and a King size Kona to fuel his journey forward. Acts of kindness such as this epitomize exactly what @konaice is all about: Be Good, Do Good, For Good.

The impact made by such a kind showing of support cannot be understated, how sweet it is to be part of an organization that cares so deeply about not only their franchises and who run them, but the positive impact a simple cup of shaved ice can have on the community and its members!

Thank you again to @konaiceofgreaterwichita for coming to support Marshall during The Race Across America, it was wonderful to see such bright faces along the road! by @nframemediaco

Continuing the roll through the Rockies, Marshall climbs through the high elevation and enjoys some wonderful views along the way.

As it stands now, he is still ahead of today’s predicted schedule and well on his way to time station 21 in Kim, Colorado.
