After a bit of a break due to life, @ghamilton79 and I made the trek to NE Wyoming for a few days of hard, precision shooting at the WTRC. We started out a bit rusty but found our zen of find, range and engage to make a lot of shots on target. This match has been a proving ground for the new PXT rifling @proofresearch, making our third year running those barrels here with success. Our shooting on the field courses and team v team earned us first place.

@hornadymfg ATips and ELD-Ms, @nightforce_optics scopes and all the other dependable parts and pieces we've been using worked as intended.

If you want a fun weekend shooting several hundred rounds each out of precision rifles, check out WTRC next July. Its a hard match run by good people for a great cause of proceeds supporting wounded warriors. by @ngcsugrad09

Another adventure in the books, with @ghamilton79 competing in the @ttg.sniperchallenge at the @yoranchheadquarters. We swapped things up and he got to shoot the @accuracyinternational ATX and @proofresearch carbon barreled 6.5CM combo while I ran the @sonsoflibertygw MK1 with a @nightforce_optics ATACR 1-8x and @envision_technologies MARS, slinging @hornadymfg 73gr ELDs as the carbine shooter.

After the shooting and rucking were over and dust settled, we pulled off a win in the Heavy division where we had to do everything with 15lb plate carriers, as well as an overall top placement. It was great spending time catching up with friends on site as well.

Additional shout out to @bornprimitivetactical as we both gave the Frontier Pant a go, which seems to be a great option wth the vents, lightly padded knees and well ppaced pockets for this kind of event. by @ngcsugrad09

Had the pleasure of spending some time in Louisiana with the @sjsoswat guys working with LPVOs and carbines, one of my favorite things to do. Their @sonsoflibertygw MK1s @nightforce_optics ATACR 1-8xs and @huxwrx Flow cans worked amazing paired together. These dudes crushed close and far targets learning how versatile a setup like this can be when you need to be fast, precise, or both. by @ngcsugrad09

It was a honor to have @dakotameyer0317 visit the shop to pick up his @sonsoflibertygw rifle. Not captured in these photos is the amount of time he spent with each team member to understand the QC and build process in depth. As a team of 50% veterans and 100% patriots, we are especially grateful for the time he spent with us. He wanted to personally thank Isaac (the armorer who built his gun - pic 2) as well as the rest of the team. Requisite jarhead team pic#3. #thankful #stayhumble by @ngcsugrad09

I have been blessed with the opportunity to learn from many of the best when it comes to the art of connecting high speed projectiles with targets. Unfortunately the past few years have seen some pass to the other side.

Another legend went to the range in the sky, @sdaveharrington. The first picture is from 2004 or so when my eyes got really opened to what someone can do with a pistol and carbine. Dave had recently retired from the military and this was one of his early open enrollment classes, and my first full weekend training when I was still in high school... but the intensity, thoughtfulness, depth and preciseness of the lessons still live with me to this day. My dad had this picture printed and signed not long after the class, and it has hung prominently as a reminder of those and many other lessons since. Everyone who met Super Dave has stories, and have heard even crazier stories as he was larger than life. The second pic is from a video that'll live forever of him shooting a steel array off a moving treadmill, which is such an embodiment of Dave if you ever shot with him.

My all time favorite personal memory was him demoing single hand pistol shooting at 100yds while casually smoking a cigarette, making hit after hit while smoothly and quickly changing hands and firing...explaining that even if you have a pistol and are hurt, you can still ruin someone's day, especially when they don't expect it.

My other favorite Dave-ism was on winning one of the first big matches I ever won. He called to congratulate me, but then went dead serious and said that now you know winning is a narcotic that you don't know until you've had it, and all you want is to have it again once you've taken a hit...And that's why you need to work harder to taste it again.

RIP Super Dave and thank you for everything. by @ngcsugrad09

After a bit of a hiatus for life, work, etc, @ghamilton79 and I knocked the rust off at one of our favorite events, the Wyoming Tactical Rifle Championship. This was our 6th time through, this time having to battle temps in the 50s to 90s, shifty winds from 2-20 mph, and just hard shooting on lots of small targets. It has become a bit of a training ground for us, as you get so much shooter/spotter work that we can refine methods/processes as we go. The final kick in the pants is the team vs team shootoff, where they had shooters swap guns this year. Greg got to feel the pressure on the long bolt gun shots while I got to go fast during the drag race style event.

We were lucky to compete against some solid teams of friends, and managed to finish in 1st. If you like to find, range and engage targets, plan to head to NE Wyoming next July.

While at the @outdoor_life Gun Test, we put the @milwaukeetool tower light to the test and found it quite handy. In addition to lighting the way, it was useful as a rocket launcher, breaching ram, mortar tube and satellite communicator. Can't recommend this one enough. @john_b_snow @thetylerfreel @krebfish @fmjmarketing @instananners @gittings_chris by @ngcsugrad09

My favorite kind of view. It's always good to keep your stuff zeroed and a range card built. Who has been to this range?

Photo dump from @williamjamesthornton from the @real.world.sniper Finale at @yoranchheadquarters

The shooting pics are from my favorite stage. Upon go, the team sprinted up a hill to the firing position, engaged a dual Texas star array with rifles, then fended off an ambush of @marathontargets running through the Texas scrub brush in a hurried 3 minutes. All three rifles we brought got heated up on the hill top.

The @real.world.sniper Finale event by @dark_corner_concepts was held this weekend at the @yoranchheadquarters in the hill country of Texas. @ghamilton79 and I successfully defended our title...barely. We had heat, rain, 12+ miles of movement, and challenging shooting and problem solving stages to negotiate throughout the weekend.
We had the honor of sharing the field with outstanding civilian and military teams, and I think everyone agreed it was a tough weekend. The phrase never give up rings true, as everything came down to the very end for determining who came out on top.
Our team is spoiled with great gear from the likes of @kgmtechnologies @proofresearch @nightforce_optics @hornadymfg and others, leaving everything up to us to execute well. The bar keeps raising at these events, and the level of competition continues to rise as well. Congrats to everyone that made it and thank you to the numerous volunteers that setup and run an undertaking this big. Should have some cool content to share in the future from this one.
P.S. Nick outdid himself by sourcing stuffed ravens from Ukraine, we'll see if I can sneak this trophy into the house. by @ngcsugrad09

$This weekend was the first @benfranklinrange Team Sniper Challenge put on by @bcf2456 to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation. For a first match by the team and first at the venue, they did a great job in pushing teams to work together and connect on target. We got to see just a fraction of the facility, but they used it very well with everything from some long shots to targets well hidden less than 100 yards away. One of my personal favorite aspects were the pistol jungle runs looking for small targets in heavily wooded areas. Even better was the time spent with friends on and off the range throughout the weekend. Finally, the guys did an excellent job keeping the weekend in perspective by memorializing their fallen SEAL bretheren at each stage with a picture and short biography. It may not seem like much to some, but it is incredibly powerful and moving to know such men and women have lived, served and died for us and our way of life. I shot a @proofresearch CTSR rifle with @kgmtechnologies R65K and @nightforce_optics ATACR 7-35x, sending @hornadymfg 110gr ATips downrange all weekend, while @ghamilton79 shot his 6.5 CM gas gun with 135gr ATips, ATACR 4-20x and an R65K as well. Both guns had Envision MARs LRFs, but the Leica binos were a key part to finding targets. We connected on enough steel to earn 1st place in Open. Congrats to @bj.underkofler and @bondlikesit for taking the W in Service class with the 6.8 uber rifle and NATO Potato .308. by @ngcsugrad09$
