Getting creative carving out an extra bathroom with a shallow sink and shower curtain for this tight space. Growing up in a family of 5 sharing one bath, I really appreciate an extra bathroom!

A fun project remodeling a tunnel house in San Francisco. We captured the exterior recessed outdoor entry tunnel, reduced the garage, and were able to fit 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths on the ground level. With just one internal stairway now connecting the 2 floors (instead of one tunnel stair and one internal stair), we were able to fit a new powder room at the upper level. I love a puzzle. 🤓

Ode to Ossipoff, Hawaiian Modernist architect, who adapted the International Modernist style to local Hawaiian climate and culture. A big inspiration for Bay Area Regionalist architects as seen in the large windows and open floor plans, bridging indoor and outdoor living. It was a treat to finally visit the Liljestrand House in 2024. taken in Liljestrand House by @ngo_studio

Punch list day for a lovely project in Menlo Park with @jessiegallowaydesign It was a pleasure working with this particular client, a ceramicist in her 70s, who was purely remodeling for herself and her daughter, not really worrying about what other people will think. The result is something unique and personal. Wait until you see the yellow exterior house color we picked! by @ngo_studio

A former client just sent me photos of her home we worked on over 10 years ago, to help her select a floor lamp. In residential design, I don’t get to see my projects much after they are completed. It’s nice to see the spaces holding up well after all these years. No weird alterations. And always sweet to hear from my clients. I’m lucky to have good ones! taken in Woodside, California by @ngo_studio

In times when I’m inundated with picture perfect images online, it’s refreshing to visit real inspirational spaces. This private home is cared for by a 90 year old widow. So much history and personal details. You can’t replicate that feeling. by @ngo_studio

A fun collab with @thomasworksad for a private office/ guest house. Nick and I designed this together a few years ago. He oversaw the construction and one day it was done. It’s like I just witnessed a reality design show unveiling! taken in Atherton, California by @ngo_studio

Minimalist details are challenging to achieve in a existing house. Sometimes floors or walls aren’t level, walls aren’t thick enough to forgo trim work and hide imperfections, or it’s too much of an endeavor that the clients just want to tear the house down and start over. But sometimes it works out just how you want it to. Celebrating those moments today! by @ngo_studio

I get a lot of remodeling requests for vaulted ceilings and an open floor plan. Sometimes the transformation can still feel lofty but respect the existing architecture and not feel like a big box! Swipe to see before. taken in Menlo Park, California by @ngo_studio
