A pause is not a sign that you are unprepared. It is a sign that you are thinking.

Before responding to a question, take one breath. Give yourself space to collect your thoughts, choose your words, and speak with intention.

The most confident communicators do not rush to fill every silence.

👉🏾They think.
👉🏾Then they speak with clarity.

Fast is not always confident. Calm, considered and clear is.

Had the best time at the launch of Shrimp & Co Liverpool with @joefernster 🦐✨

Let’s just say… we ate far too much! 😅 The food was delicious and there’s still so much on the menu we can’t wait to try.

Whether you’re planning a family meal, catching up with friends, looking for a fun date spot or bringing the little ones along, this is a place for everyone. And with no alcohol served, you can enjoy their fabulous mocktails instead 🍹

You do not need to apologise before you speak.

Small phrases such as “I’m sorry, but…”, “This might be a silly question…” or “I just think…” can quietly shrink a valuable contribution before it has even been heard.

Try replacing them with language that holds your point with clarity:

✨ “Here is my perspective…”
✨ “I’d like to add…”
✨ “The key point is…”

Confident communication is not about being the loudest voice in the room. It is about trusting that your voice deserves space.

Save this for the next time you are about to make yourself smaller before you speak.

It was a real honour to lead the procession at the Liverpool School of Art and Creative Industries (LSA) graduation ceremony at Liverpool Cathedral, alongside Dr Ruth Hussey, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, and the wonderful actress, comedian and fellow LJMU Honorary Fellow, Pauline Daniels.

Celebrating the achievements of LSA’s next generation of artists, designers, performers, filmmakers and creative practitioners in such an iconic setting was truly special. The talent, pride and possibility in the room was palpable.

Congratulations to every graduate. Keep creating, keep believing in your voice, and keep making your mark. 🎓✨

I had so much fun presenting the Sandford St. Martin Trust 2026 Awards at the magnificent Lambeth Palace.

As a trustee, I feel incredibly lucky to host this special event each year and celebrate broadcasting that explores faith, hope, spirituality and the big questions that shape our world.

✨The Trustees’ Special Award recognised Pilgrimage for its contribution to public-service broadcasting.

✨ Radio Times Readers’ Award: Long Lost Family Special: The Mother and Baby Home Scandal

Huge congratulations to every entrant, shortlisted programme, runner-up and winner.

The work honoured this year was moving, thoughtful and a powerful reminder that stories can help us listen, question, learn and connect.

Big thank you to the @sandfordawards team for all their hardwork in pulling this together Anna McNamee, Jess Lewis and Anne Smith

Had so much fun at LJMU’s Graduation Dinner.

It is always a pleasure to attend these evenings. Each year, I find myself seated on a different day, having brilliant conversations with past and present students, fellow honorary fellows, and board members (past and present)

This year, we were in the John Lennon Building, and it was a real treat to have dinner cooked and served by LJMU’s catering team. The food, the setting and, most importantly, the people made it such a lovely evening.

As an LJMU alumna and honorary fellow, I never take for granted being in spaces where journeys are being celebrated and new chapters are beginning.

Wow, wow, wow — what a beautiful and powerful day at Anfield for ‘Beyond the Goalposts’. Huge congratulations to Dionne Johnson, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Department Manager at LFC Foundation, and the whole team for creating such an important space for Black and marginalised young girls in sport.

It was an honour to host a panel with Natalie Louise Brown, Roopa Vyas, Jessica Clarke, Natasha Dowie and Phoebe Schecter — women whose experiences and voices showed exactly why representation, belonging and opportunity matter. by @ngunanadamuofficial

I finally got my breast prosthesis.

Shock horror… it wasn’t my complexion.

After cancer, surgery and everything that comes with it, I was told to find a supplier and buy a skin-tone-appropriate one myself.

🚫No referral.

🚫No clear support.

Just more research, more cost and more emotional labour.

It is 2026.

Black and Brown women get breast cancer too.

We deserve care that sees us too.

This is not vanity.

It is dignity.

It is representation.

It is equality.

Gratitude for the NHS and calling out inequality can exist together.

I have stayed quiet about a lot throughout this journey. But this has been the final straw.

✨It was a privilege to be part of an evening that brought together so many people committed to meaningful change with Dr Gee Walker MBE, Tom Cowie from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Maleka Egeonu-Roby from the Regional Authority Racial Equality Hub, and the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor William Shortall.

I was honoured to join Dr Gee and the Lord Mayor in presenting the Gold Awards, while celebrating every school, Ambassador and performer who made the evening so special by @ngunanadamuofficial
