GOOD DOG SERIES: We know this guy's next best friend is out there... we just gotta track them down! 👀

Next up in this series where we introduce you to dogs who have been waiting a little too long for their second chance is nine-year-old Digger! Unsurprisingly, this guy has BIG Beagle energy, and if ya know Beagles, ya know:

Full of personality? ✅
Curious and scent-driven? ✅
Friendly and vocal? ✅

Digger absolutely loves being around people! He's also one smart cookie who knows a whole bunch of commands and tricks, such as sit, stay, shake, roll over, dance, play dead... yeah, you read that right! He even dances and plays dead! This boy has a whole repertoire and it's quite impressive.

A FEW MORE THINGS TO LOVE ABOUT DIGGER:
▪️ Has lived with people of all ages
▪️ Has experience living with other dogs and dog-savvy cats
▪️ Does well in the car
▪️ Can stay home alone without needing to be crated

A FEW THINGS HIS FUTURE FAMILY SHOULD KNOW:
Digger is a senior dog and in true senior-dog-fashion, he has a few medical considerations that we want his future family to be aware of, including environmental allergies, a heart murmur, and dental disease.

He was also evaluated earlier this year after an episode at daycare involving vomiting and possible seizure activity. 🥺 During this episode, he exhibited signs consistent with vestibular disease. He's not currently receiving treatment for this and has been doing really well while in our care, but his history means he'll need a family committed to monitoring for any future symptoms.

If you're a sucker for that unmistakable Beagle charm, we'd love for you to come meet this Very Good Dog. Our team would be happy to chat with you about his medical history and help you determine if he's the right fit for you!

Our Adoption Center will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. today and tomorrow and closed on Monday. We're located at 104 Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham, NH and hope to see you soon. ♥️

This adoptable animal feature is brought to you by our generous Top Dog Sponsor, @veshnh. Join us for the Auction for the Animals on Saturday, November 21 at Wentworth by the Sea Hotel to help save more animals like Digger! by @nhspca

GOOD DOG SERIES: We've got some incredible dogs who've been hanging out with us for a while, and it's time to give them some extra love! Over the next couple of days, we're going to introduce you to some of our longer-term residents. Get ready to meet some VERY good dogs!

Fair warning: you might fall in love. (We hope you do. 🥰)

First up is four-year-old Phoebe, who kinda broke the internet with her pouty photo a few weeks ago. Scroll to see it. 🤣

If you meet this dog, it’s dang near impossible not to adore her right away. Phoebe LOVES people of all ages, has a happy-go-lucky personality, and is always ready for her next adventure. She’s great in the car, walks beautifully on leash, is an experienced running buddy, and has a tail that simply does 👏 not 👏 quit. 👏

And that UNDERBITE!? Come on!

A FEW MORE THINGS TO LOVE ABOUT PHOEBE:
▪️Has had professional training
▪️Knows basic commands and is reportedly house- and crate-trained
▪️Has successfully lived with dog-savvy cats
▪️Enjoys playing with other dogs (read more about this below)

A FEW THINGS HER FUTURE FAMILY SHOULD KNOW:
Phoebe has lots of energy and can get pretty worked up in her kennel, so she’ll need an active home with plenty of exercise and enrichment. She also has allergies that require a specialized diet and routine care.

While Phoebe enjoys playing with other dogs, she does have a history of resource guarding toys and food. We manage this by removing toys during playdates, but understand that sharing a home with another dog would be more complicated. We think Phoebe would thrive as the only dog, or with an experienced family prepared to manage this behavior.

Phoebe is a Very Good Dog, and we’d love for you to see it for yourself. Will you come take her for a walk and get to know her? Our Adoption Center is open until 4:00 p.m. today and then will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days this weekend (closed on Monday). ♥️

This adoptable animal feature is brought to you by our generous Animal Angel Sponsor, @allenwayside. Join us for the Auction for the Animals on Saturday, November 21 at Wentworth by the Sea Hotel to help save more animals like Phoebe. by @nhspca

If you've adopted an animal, you've seen firsthand all the good that can come from a second chance.

Greater Good Charities’ Good Exists Challenge is inviting people to share a real moment of good they’ve witnessed, and we’d love for our community to tell the world about the good that came into their lives through pet adoption!

Have a video of your dog picking out a new toy? Your cat curled up in their favorite sunny spot? Your horse running to greet you at the gate? That’s the good we want to see! 😍

Your little moment of joy could help shine a light on the good that comes from animal rescue, and it could help us bring even more good to animals in need. Greater Good Charities is donating $100,000 to charities through winning entries, so your video could help secure funding to support our work.

SHARE YOUR GOOD:
1️⃣ Create a video up (1-3 minutes) sharing one good thing you’ve experienced with your adopted animal
2️⃣ Post it on TikTok and tag @greatergoodcharities, @nhspca and #goodexistschallenge
3️⃣ Submit your video at goodexists.greatergood.org

We know that good exists. We see it here every day. We’d love for you to show us what it looks like in your home. ♥️ by @nhspca

🕚 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
📍 McGovern Subaru (85 Gosling Road, Newington, NH 03801)

Yesterday, these five kittens were found on the doorstep of The Barking Dog in Exeter in a clean carrier. Right now, they’re safe, cozy and piled up in the cutest little cuddle puddle in one of our cat rooms.

We understand situations like this can be hard to read about. As an organization, we know when things like this happen, there is often a well-intentioned person that cares deeply about the animals and is doing their best to navigate a difficult situation.

It’s apparent these kittens were very well-loved before they made their way to us. They are all very social and healthy… and the decision to leave them in a heavily trafficked area tells us that they wanted to ensure the kittens were found quickly. We promise to care for them every step of the way and then help each find a wonderful, loving home.

In the meantime, we’re hoping to connect with the person who had been caring for them.

We want to be very clear about why: We are not here to judge. We are not here to shame anyone. We are not here to make assumptions about what might have led you to this decision. In fact, any comments on this post that do so will be removed.

We simply want to help.

If these kittens came from your home, we hope you’ll reach out to us privately and let us help their mom, too. If she is still in your care, we’d be happy to provide free services to avoid another unexpected litter.

At the time, you might not have known that we could be a resource for you... but we hope you know now. We’re here, we want to help, and we really hope you’ll take us up on it. ♥️

Life is better when you have someone to share it with. For these two little piggies, they’ve always found that someone in one another. 🥰

Sixty-two days is a long time for one animal—let alone two!—to wait to be adopted. Ban and Man have spent those 62 days charming our team, enjoying each other’s company, and dreaming of a home where they can finally settle in for good.

Ban is the more outgoing of the two. He may put up a little protest when he realizes someone is trying to pick him up, but once he’s in your arms, his tune quickly changes. Ban is gentle and affectionate and always happy to get pets on his little noggin’ or simply wander around and investigate his surroundings… and yes, that includes climbing all over his favorite person! 🤗

Ban is also very expressive, especially when mealtime approaches. He knows when it’s time to eat, and if you happen to forget, he has no problem reminding you with a few well-timed squeaks. Clearly, someone has to keep the household on schedule and Ban is happy to be that guy!

Ban's best friend, Man, is a little more on the reserved side. If he thinks you’re planning to pick him up, he may back away and hope you change your mind! However, once he realizes he’s safe and settled in your arms, this quiet, laid-back piggy relaxes and soaks in all the love. He especially enjoys cuddling on his person’s chest and tucking himself under their chin. 🥹

Guinea pigs may be small, but they have big personalities and have specific needs, too. They need a spacious enclosure with room to explore, play, hide and rest. Fresh hay should make up most of their diet, along with guinea pig pellets, fresh vegetables, plenty of water, and a reliable source of vitamin C. They also need daily care, enrichment, and interaction with their people.

After 62 days, these little piggies deserve the chance to go home. Could you be the one to make their dream come true? ♥️

Damien has been waiting for a home for a month now. That's 31 days.

Why? Maybe it's his age (he's 8). Maybe it's because he spends most of his time tucked away out of sight. What we do know is that he's been with us longer than any of our other adoptable cats.

Damien's longtime owner faced the kind of situation no one ever wants to be in. With nowhere else to turn, they made the hard decision to surrender him. All this change has been a lot for Damien to take in, so he does what feels safest: he tucks himself deep into his hiding spot and waits.

He may not show it here, but Damien knows how to trust. His former owner found him as a feral kitten, and like most ferals, he needed time to settle into life as a house cat. Once he did, he came out of his shell.

He isn't a lap cat, but he'll let you pet him, and every now and then he'll invite you to a game of chase. He's independent at heart, but he bonds deeply with the people who give him the time and patience to get to know him.

The fastest way to break the ice? A churu tube. It's his favorite.

Damien doesn't need someone who'll win him over in five minutes. He needs someone willing to wait for him, the way he's been waiting for you. Stop by our adoption center (Thurs 11am–7pm, Fri–Tue 11am–4pm) and ask to meet him
