UK Gilts are still way too high and even above inflation. (?) This creates an opportunity for arbitrage trading or leveraged positions and still makes sense even after trading fees and commissions. Perfect asset for tax free income but remember only direct bond purchases if you are chasing those tax free gains, index related assets or derivatives won’t attract tax free treatment which is often associated with UK gilts. Tariffs are here and the UK is on the list. Although the UK appears to be hit with the lowest amount of new charges, automakers will be subject to the 25% charges for vehicles manufactured outside of the US. Inflation is set to increase as businesses gear up to absorb this cost and eventually try to pass this to their customers. A new scheme allows people to earn 25% of the tax collected if they report tax evasion to HMRC.
