Happy Equinox 🍂

A little while back, I was gifted a few "calligraphy things" in a box. And after sifting through used cartridges and nibs, I finally got around to cleaning everything (that could be salvaged) and eagerly set about acquiring a converter so I could try one of the pens.

Imagine my delight as I tried a vintage Scheaffer No Nonsense pen for the first time! A half-century old with all three calligraphy nibs to choose from, and in surprisingly good condition.

What an honest joy to play with the Italic nib. I quickly fell into experimenting with Uncial using the M nib. Turns out this nib is lovely for practicing Hebrew cursive script, as well. 😌 I envision lots more play with this pen in future. by @nibandfoil

First pattern pages in my TRP dot grid journal.
Inspired by @ichi.day and @quietlovelythings and their beautiful, meticulous pattern work. ✨

I learned a lot while inking these pages. It was enjoyable to figure out my favorite method for the strokes. And after a recent trip to the museum, I have a few more ideas for pages I would like to try in future. by @nibandfoil

I had a lot of fun participating in @pencilmancer's archaic insults calligraphy challenge, so here are some favorites from the month.

Tried my hand at a couple new scripts that were out of my comfort zone, but quite proud how a few of these turned out.
Not least is the microscopic "Nincompoop" penciled in on the same page as "Mooncalf". Can you spot it?

Stars in heaven, this took forever.
(To be fair, I didn't make it easy on myself at first.)
Freehanded with a Princeton Heritage size 2 round brush with @drphmartins Bleed Proof White on watercolor paper painted by a loved one.

Not a bad way to spend a rainy afternoon. by @nibandfoil

A few blooms I've been enjoying lately. 🌸

Playing around with a new ink from Wearingeul: "ENKI" from the World Myth collection. Soft blue with a gold shimmer. Glass dip pen. (Last two photos show the scripts inked on paper.)

Thanks to @uncertainlinesclub for the excellent quote — I was inspired to try my hand at it after seeing your post last month.

Foundational hand + I don't know... Does the second script look more Spencerian or Copperplate coded?
My only regret with this one is that "b".
Still, I enjoyed it.
