Nibi’s first NFL game, and she went to WORK! 💪🏻

Even though we purchased accessibility tickets so we would have space for Nibi and distance from other fans who may be eating peanuts, we showed up to 2 guys sitting in our seats shelling a TON of peanuts 🥴 It’s one thing to seat hop, but to make an absolute mess in the seats with a known allergen was beyond me. Since I am quite sensitive to inhalation reactions as well (which is not common), freshly shelled peanuts is the most risky environment for me, but that is precisely why we have Nibi!

I waited over a decade to see KC play in Seattle, and pounced on these tickets the moment the schedule was released in July, so to see our expensive seats covered in a life threatening allergen shook me a bit. Thankfully Lumen Field staff was as helpful as they could be cleaning the seats, but that unfortunately still spreads the allergen on the ground and we just couldn’t risk sitting above that for hours or getting it all over our bags, shoes and on Nibi and her mat. Not to mention Nibi would have likely been alerting to me the entire game as well. But we moved to a safe distance and Nibi reassured me nothing was on my hands, etc.

The trickiest part was trying to communicate with staff while quickly masking up and fleeing before they started to sweep! Nibi even distance-alerted from our safe spot when they kicked up the scent, something we saw her do naturally in her early training when first imprinting the scent before she got better at following the scent to source or when it’s inaccessible. In this case, I did not want her/us anywhere near the source! 😬 Kyle was also critical here being able to liaise with staff and explain we unfortunately still couldn’t sit there but still thanking them for doing everything they could.

Luckily, there were empty seats a little down that Nibi vetted as safe. We had our @rooroomade wipes with us which were perfect to still wipe the railing and seats as an extra precaution, but Nibi assured us we were clear 🤍 that validation was everything.

4 sea legs are better than 2! Dog dad is a little jealous of my seaworthiness 🌊💙

There’s lots to get used to when joining mom on the water: engines, waves, wind, seals, jumping salmon, and more! We started with exercises to help build back leg muscles and stability before moving to the boats where the first few times we just played games, hid treats, and started/killed the engine before even going out into waves. Now I cannot wait until I go on the boats! by @nibidog

Apex predator of sticks 🪾😈

I may have gotten scared of my own scream 🙈 but throw the stick …or else! This is what you get when you unleash the beast 🤪

Twinning on the skytrain, because training is more fun with friends! 🐶

We met up with our buddies Chloe and Arthur for his first Skytrain ride. He did so well, and Nibi was so happy to go with a friend! Peer outings are such a great way for dogs to feed off each other’s confidence in new situations 💪🏻

Nightmare became reality 🥜🚫🥴

Thankfully we were able to move a few seats down that Nibi confirmed were safe and still got to enjoy the game.

Also, don’t be that guy making a mess with a known and allergen in a designated disability seat that is not yours 🤬 like wtf?!

🐶 Nibi is a 22 month old duck toller who is my allergen detection service dog. This was her first NFL game and she was an absolute pro alerting to peanuts, confirming what was safe, and behaving beautifully. We wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the game without her!
