Another successful trip up to Capitol Peak on 6/21/26. Two years ago was the first time I summited this mountain with @slikeyyy029 and @dirtbagtaco_ . Was a fantastic trip up again with the OG squad + @callum.chisholm! Beautiful day out with full summer conditions on the ridge-direct route. Still lots of snow being held up on the standard route. Made for a decent glissade coming down but I still think going up/down ridge-direct is the way. taken in Capitol Peak by @nicchappelle

Cascades Day 2 // Black Peak NE Ridge: After the previous day’s adventure of Sahale Mountain, I was pretty sure I was going to spend this day doing a relaxing lake hike. However, I woke up feeling energized and very confident attempting another big peak day. So onwards to Black Peak’s NE Ridge. How was it? GNARLY. Way spicier than I was expecting and probably my new favorite ridge scramble. The easiest comparison in Colorado (that I’ve done) I think would be Little Bear’s West Ridge-Direct route but this was even spicier. Insane exposure and multiple moves in the low 5th class range. Felt like adrenaline was flooding my veins the entire ridge until I reached the summit. This is one of those routes where I really wish I had a partner because it was so much fun and it would’ve been awesome to have a subject to snap photos. And also for safety purposes- duh. Anyways, for the big scrambler folks, I HIGHLY recommend this route if you make a trip out to the Cascades. I had more fun on this route than most routes I’ve done in Colorado. I recorded ~12.5 miles and ~5,400 gain. taken in Black Peak (Washington) by @nicchappelle

Wanted to give a proper shoutout to @rockgloves. As stated in the video, these are a fantastic pair of affordable scrambling gloves. They’re a local brand here in Colorado and have been with me for almost every adventure this past season. Here’s my take:

During warmer summer ascents, they’re not necessary but you can still wear them in the mornings while you warm up. The material is durable for the price you pay and the sticky elements on the fingers are fantastic! So yes, they are absolutely grippy.

Where they truly shine is when the weather is cooler and the rock is chilly. These have saved my fingers from that numbing cold on numerous outings. In my most recent day out (October 10th), the weather was windy and cold while ascending. I put hand warmers inside the gloves and they were perfect. Ideal for scrambling in cool autumn conditions.

So I highly recommend! Check out @rockgloves for your scrambling needs! by @nicchappelle

Epic day on Kit Carson / Challenger yesterday - 10/10/26

Some really fun mixed conditions throughout the day. North Ridge on Kit Carson was a spicy class 4 scramble. Climber’s right of the ridge was caked in snow and ice while climber’s left was bone dry. This created quite the experience when some clouds/wind rolled in while we were ascending. For most of the ridge (especially the upper portion), we only had narrow lanes and small pockets of dry holds where we can avoid most of the snow and ice on the route. Otherwise, the dry rock was fantastic.

Challenger, as most folks are aware, was a garbage descent with 1-2 ft of soft snow on the upper portion. So it was pretty slippery getting down and I fell on my ass probably 100 times.

These peaks also serve as my [ABC - all but Culebra] CO 14er finishers so it was cool to finish up with a really fun day in the Sangres with some great company😎 taken in Kit Carson Peak by @nicchappelle

Here is a walkthrough of Mount Antero East Ridge via Rasberry Gulch (class 2). It’s a great alternative to the other more popular routes. I haven’t done the other two routes, but I can attest that I overall enjoyed this hike. The bushwhacking was a bit rough in spots (especially going back down) but manageable. The only strong recommendation I have for this route is having the route downloaded so you can reference it throughout the hike. Until you gain the ridge, there is virtually no way to navigate where you are due to the tree cover and bushwhacking.

My Strava recorded 9.27 miles out and back with an elevation gain of 5,582 ft. However, my Strava was acting up. The total gain should’ve been around 4,800 ft. taken in Mount Antero by @nicchappelle

WARNING: This post contains material not suitable for viewers that dislike sexy nature photos.

Just some more shots from our lake stroll this past weekend off Kebler Pass. In my opinion, this area is Colorado’s mecca for leaf peeping and is my #1 recommendation for leisure autumn exploration. taken in Kebler Pass by @nicchappelle

Leaf peeping is among some of my favorite leisure activities to do during the fall season. So it felt appropriate to take a break from our recent move and get out to Kebler Pass to soak in some vibrant views and feel that nice, crisp autumn air. It also felt great to just take a chill hike around the lakes and not be surrounded by 1,000 ft vertical drops of death for once😅 Plus, this is Finn’s first official hike! He’s still a little shit but he’s learning.. soon he’ll be ready for some big time mountain adventures. taken in Kebler Pass by @nicchappelle

Re-uploading this because my original post is experiencing some sort of quality issue. So here’s some crisp HD.

Anyways, this was some chossy section in the Snowmass-Hagerman Traverse, before the crux pitch. Fun stuff!

9/19/26 - While on Halo Ridge, we were hiking in near white-out conditions for almost 3 hours. As we got to the second tower, conditions were slowly improving and we could FINALLY see Holy Cross. This was the first view the summit all day. Even from Notch Mountain, Holy Cross was behind a blanket of clouds. Definitely was the boost in motivation we needed to keep pushing. taken in Mount of the Holy Cross by @nicchappelle
