Honesty ahead 🥹

For quite a few years, birthdays (especially your own) gets forgotten + pushed aside. Life becomes all about necessity, urgent priorities..It was time to celebrate ME again + that I am also worthy enough to be celebrated. That it’s NECESSARY to celebrate yourself too. Especially when it’s hard. Life is short. Whether the world or anyone else makes you feel like you are special or not. This does not make it less true.

It started in Blackpool the night before with a beautiful video of my kids holding a poster. Then Team Dance-sport SA surprising me at breakfast (even though I had to know because no one was there at first as everyone is always late 🤣🤣😶 RIGHT?) thanks to super roomie @amyzingreen (I swear that hotel did not clean our room ONCE even though we asked 3 times + we somehow kept it spotless and not gross between us for 7 days sweat&all - high fives for US 🔥) then a quick coffee at Manchester Airport before connecting for a sec at @arndale with a family member at Starbucks (of course). Catching a speed train to London. Great. A million underground tube rides with my heavy bags - to get to a deregistered AirBnB without electricity who was not ‘quite as close to Heathrow’ as advertised. Not so great.

Flight to LA - then the longest wait for a bus to Union Station, ever. Met some cool Koreans. Seems the whole transport from LAX situation has changed since I’ve last been. Uber to @rapper79 (one of my oldest friends, met him 17 years ago when I was living in Venice and also one of the best 3D and VFX artists in LA) who was graciously hosting me, thank you 🙏🏻🌵- and finally home to sunshine, lots of cacti and Manu 🐈 in Eagle Rock. Big thanks to your great fam for showing me Terranea Resort in Los Palos Verdes, I’ve never been and it’s even more gorgeous than your previous place in Marina del Rey! 🌊

I think I made up for it a bit. No cake - no birthday IMO. It’s 1 of my favourite things. Special thanks to everyone who made this special, I am truly thankful ❤️

I come and I go.
Tell me all the ways you need me.
I’m not here for long.

Everybody knows.
Catch me or I go - Houdini.

Time is passing like a solar eclipse.

If you good enough - you’ll find a way.
Maybe you can cause a girl to change.

Her ways.

Maybe you could be the one to make me - stay.

The Free State. What a great place to loose yourself. I also love losing myself in great coats, this is my favourite from @forevernew_sa. Urban or Country, hot or cold. A real style winner. Scroll to the end to see little Emma there in a steal shot! 🐑 taken in Free State by @niccisays

#Awareness!! I am very proud to support this incredible initiative to make a BIG difference in a LITTLE girl’s life. Mianke (@stargardts_mademedoit ) is a brave little girl living with a rare eye condition called Stargardts’s disease that immensely affects her vision. I am honoured to be part of this journey to help and I invite you to make a real difference in her life. She needs some very expensive glasses that will highly affect her quality of life and you can find the Back-a-buddy drive link on their Insta bio.

@jcsnooke you’ve been nominated!! 🫶 Let’s spread the love and keep the momentum going!!
