Another great night @bodeganotts Izzy was back from Liverpool after a tough week at Uni; and this super group @thecheapthrillsss put Izzy on the guest list as I only had one ticket to their sold out gig and tour. Thanks Anton for answering my message, very much appreciated. What a night it was! Always good to see a full crowd, the busiest I’d seen the Bodega. A really good, feel good night. The crowd knew all the songs and sang like they had known the songs for years; the album has only been out a month, and it is a very good album. It’s full of arms in the air, arms round your mates singalong anthems made for making life’s memories and some nice ballads thrown in too. Every song telling a story, another great Liverpool band. They sing 🎵 “don’t you ever meet your heroes, they’ll only let you down” Well The Cheap Thrills were my heroes Saturday night and no way did they let me or anyone down. Another band on the Rothley Rock’n’Roll Wall of Fame and a bevy in the Jacaranda. Magic. taken in The Bodega by @nick.seville

Sunday night gigs can be a tough decision, although they never seem to let me down. A full on 2 Tone evening with a crowd that didn’t stop dancing. I always love a gig with a dancing audience. The Selecter, The Beat and a DJ set from Rhoda Dakar. What more could you ask for. Nice end to the weekend. taken in Leicester 02 Academy by @nick.seville

I’ve been to some good gigs this year and this was up there with the best of them. I wasn’t sure what I was going to get for my most expensive ticket this year; it was worth every penny (£40). A full two hours of classic and new @gilbertosull_ no fills just great music. Gilbert chatted to a very appreciative audience of all ages speaking about his love of the craft of song writing. I think my first ever song memory was ‘Get Down’. Backed by guitarist Bill Shanley and some pretty good singing from the audience; check out the clip ‘peaceful waters fall’ (#10). Finished off the weekend with a lovely bit of Canadian Surf Rock @thesurfrajettes A mix of original songs and covers (can you recognise the fab five cover) and some nice chat between songs. The surf guitar sound was great, made even better with amazing drumming, loved the drumming. It’s always going to be a good night when you see a double bass on stage; top support from the @xraycattrio taken in The Old Cold Store, Nottingham by @nick.seville

This band was one of my early teens favourites; still play the vinyl today (Emma loves a listen). Another good night at The Steel bar, Corby. A lot of fans young and old looked to be enjoying it. First time for me seeing @discharge.official live, and it was well worth the journey, these second wave old punk bands can still put out a good performance. A big thanks again to @stomperpromotions cheers Ronnie, I know you put a lot of time and effort into bringing great gigs to fans. It’s easy to forget someone has to sort the bands, the venues and promote to bring in the fans. Very much appreciated, a top night. taken in The Steel Bar Venue by @nick.seville

@headwiredband have appeared on my instagram a lot; thought it would be worth perusing and managed to get a ticket on their sold out tour. I really enjoyed their gig at the @electricdaisyderby. Head Wired are a great sound of indie rock, with well crafted songs that would hold up against some of the indie big bands of the past. Really pleased I went, and they even had their own tour programmes. Magic. taken in Electric Daisy Derby by @nick.seville

Finally got to see @themolotovs headlining their own sold out tour. First caught them supporting the Sex Pistols at Rock City, and earlier this year I saw them at Bearded Theory. Great seeing a very polished performance at The Palais, Nottingham on Friday, they’re always a good watch. They should be playing bigger venues to younger audiences; not knocking the older gig goers, we do seem to be the audience at most gigs. Nice to see Issey the bassist at the end of the gig making sure the set lists got to the members of the audience she wanted them to go to. The end three pictures are from Bearded Theory, The Sex Pistols gig and the doodlegraph from the Pistols gig. Was lucky enough to meet them at the Pistols gig, really nice siblings. Okay, so I’ve ended up with three copies of the @keysideliverpool album. Yes It’s my fault, but there’s worse things in life that could happen. Again, another great gig from this band at a very hot intimate Live + Signing @roughtradenottm Already looking forward to seeing them @rescuerooms Nottingham later this year. Great audience who appreciated the genuine thanks from the band. Didn’t actually get my album signed; showing my age, decided to drive home while it was still light. Brilliant night! Still have my Iron Maiden ticket from 1986. @thebeastukofficial performing the same Iron Maiden tour 40 years on. They were brilliant. I looked at Iron Maiden tickets last year; too expensive, they’ve gone up from £6.50. This was worth every penny. They sounded good and put on a great, getting on for two hours show that the gig goers were praising on the way out. I think any Maiden fans would have enjoyed. Bring back proper ticket stubs, part of the memories. taken in Leicester 02 Academy by @nick.seville
