An unexpected work = a film award in the West End in London.

-

Organized a casting call & audition in 5 min once I received an offer - straight after the event at the Korean Embassy in Latvia.

Then 48h of shoot on set as a second director in Riga (Latvia) to bring it to life, after which I fell asleep between props on set.

And, as a result, an award & 5 nominations for our completed short film - this night at a cinema in the West End in London.

So proud of you @kristinaverdo!

My job here (as a casting director, second director & co-producer) is completed.

Now I can go back from side hustle to my film development for:

ACTING SHOWREEL,
where you act - we showreel.

Recently launched this project to help actors establish themselves and their voice effectively in the creative industry.

What is this and why?

Almost 2 years ago, I gradually started working on this process, after noticing a clear lack of professional showreels among actors in London.

Often, especially at the beginning of their careers, actors are expected to also be their own editors, cinematographers, designers, and marketers.
That’s not their fault, but it’s something I want to change by taking this aspect, so actors can focus on what truly matters - their craft.

Plus, it's a great opportunity for me to apply my methods within this format and create some works in this short format, filling up the gap in this niche,
as well as updating my database of actors and studying the range of their abilities, as this process often becomes a source of inspiration for new or developing ideas.

To make it more engaging, I’ve limited this project to only 12 spots. After that, it will be closed.
With such pace and rhythm, the process is more immersive and intense, so everything is happening vividly and in one powerful run right now. by @nick_etz

Hosting the screening of the "Enys Men" in the new underground cinema in a bunker. Riga, Latvia (@abandoned.latvia) (Sep, 2025)

Context:

In September, during my visit to Latvia, the team from a new independent cinema in Riga invited me to host a screening of a film by my colleague from Cornwall and to give a lecture about his work.

They have set up the cinema in a former abandoned bunker, so such texture of a forgotten place promises to be full of character - a perfect setting for immersing oneself in the work of Mark Jenkin.

-

This place is located on the grounds of a former metallurgical plant that was established in the late 19th century. After the First World War, a textile factory operated here, and by the beginning of the Second World War, the owner of the site — a wealthy and influential Latvian — donated it to the University of Latvia. However, when the Soviet authorities arrived, they confiscated all the documents, leaving the place to its own fate... A maze of underground corridors, a real bunker.

We had people from Latvia, Yakutia (@irinaengelis, @engelisproduction), Cornwall.

Hopefully, this place will now become a haven for independent cinema and attract many cinephiles and filmmakers from the West and the East.

Context:

On that day, I was celebrating my birthday and released the interview with herronthatkate, but since Instagram shut down the IGTV platform, I’m now re-uploading this updated interview in Reels to keep it available for you.

We talked about the "Loki" series, "Sex Education", how she joined Marvel, and her journey of becoming a director.

It turned out brief, and much didn’t make it into the final cut, but it was still a pleasure to talk.

Many thanks to @kotokrabs and @qewbite for supporting me and agreeing to take part.

Such collaboration within one event was quite an unusual experience.

The first trip to Mongolia to work on "Ononoke" (@ononoke.film)
Co-production, partners, investors...
The first journey outside Europe.
The first feature film.
Panavision, 35mm film, the artistic vision I’ve been carrying inside.
...and all the words all of you left me when I was leaving this place.

The path already taken to bring this idea called Ononoke to life… is truly impressive.

At this moment, I can hardly imagine what awaits us when it’s finished—if the beginning already feels like this... No, in fact, I do know and I can imagine.

But let's not reveal all secrets at once.

I am grateful to everyone who has contributed, and continues to contribute, to making this project real.
I am deeply thankful to each of you.

Special thanks to Tsogtbayar Namsrai (@mongol_films_llc) and the Mongolian National Film Council (@mnfilmcouncil) for such a warm welcome and for organizing our meeting within the Kharkhorum IFF @kharkhorum_iff. It was fascinating to glimpse Mongolian culture, especially its film industry and the young generation that will carry this art forward. The people I saw, their words, thoughts, and most importantly, their works—all of this gave me a glimpse of what lies ahead for Mongolia’s cinema.

And very special thank you to @freddie_brandes/@crystalclearpictures_films , who believes in this idea same strong as me and without whom none of this would have happened — and is happening now, not 10+ years later.

I want to share knowledge with the younger generation in Mongolia, and I hope the idea of coming back as a teacher and lecturer will someday become possible.

Ononoke is moving forward.
While our team travels to Mongolia, South Korea, the UK, and Latvia to organize this film,
I’m leaving you this letter here, beneath this Instagram post.

Tears run down my cheeks.
My soul feels warm.
Ononoke. My new film. Slowly coming to life.

Relentlessly, head-on, I move toward my dream. And one day, I’ll reach it.
