If I could give you one piece of advice, it would be this: marry your best friend.

Marry someone you can be fully yourself with, without shrinking, without fear of being judged. Marry someone you can live deeply with—someone who makes anywhere feel like home simply because they are by your side.

Marry someone who is peace in the middle of chaos, laughter in hard days, and shelter in moments of vulnerability.

Today I celebrate another year of Nick’s life, and I am so grateful he came into mine. He is my calm in busy days, my laughter in sad ones, and my safe place when I feel fragile.

He is one of the people I admire most—for his huge heart, and for the way he strives every day to be better as a father, a husband, a son, and a human being.

I thank God for your life, my love.

It may sound cliché to say this on your birthday… but truly, I’m the one receiving the gift by having you in my life.
