just piano things checked off while at belmont:

✔️played a piano solo while cody fry performed (and got filmed)
✔️tickled the ivories in rehearsal
✔️shared a bench while playing aleatoric music with @samuelpianoguy
✔️practiced for once in the practice room
✔️triggered sound effects (including a toilet flush)
✔️performed the piano concerto that inspired me to be a professional musician
✔️originated a keys 2 part
✔️glissandoed in the celebration omega
✔️ played a song that asks the age-old question: gay or european?
✔️accompanied a choir in 5/8 (and many other time signatures)
✔️learned some filipino repertoire

couldn’t have done it without my wonderful piano mentors and teachers: Dr. Marler, Prof. Bennett, Dr. Dudley, and Jo Lynn by @nickjbenefield

one month ago was the premiere of driving on!!!!! a huge thanks to everyone who took part in it and attended. without you all, i would not have had this opportunity to present a story that means so much to me: a story of people who look like and live lives like me and my friends—navigating the struggles of love, connection, and personal identity in a world that is still hostile. but the story is not finished and i look forward to sharing more as i continue driving on. by @nickjbenefield

at 12 years old, i watched seong-jin cho win the chopin international piano competition playing this piano concerto-cementing my desire to pursue music professionally

almost exactly ten years later, i've had the wonderful opportunity to make my 12 year old self proud and perform this second movement with the belmont orchestra

thanks to everyone who has made me the musician i am today by @nickjbenefield
