A lot has changed since 1986.

Vehicles have become more complex.

Inspection methods have evolved.

Technology has transformed the way we understand collector cars.

But one thing hasn’t changed.

The belief that every conclusion should be based on evidence.

Today’s collector vehicles require more than mechanical knowledge.

They require an understanding of engineering, electronics, software, documentation, and history.

The tools may look different than they did forty years ago.

But the goal remains exactly the same:

Helping collectors make informed decisions with confidence.

Because technology changes.

Good engineering evolves.

Principles endure.

🏁 Recap | La Leggenda di Bassano 🇮🇹

Another unforgettable edition of La Leggenda di Bassano has come to an end.

For the third consecutive year, we had the privilege of taking part in one of Italy’s most iconic collector car rallies.

From breathtaking mountain roads and picturesque villages to extraordinary historic automobiles, every kilometre reminded us why these events are so special.

Collector cars are more than machines.

They represent craftsmanship, engineering, heritage, and the people who preserve their stories for future generations.

Beyond the beautiful scenery and remarkable vehicles, it was the conversations, shared passion, and friendships that made this year’s event truly memorable.

Thank you to the organizers, participants, and everyone we met along the route.

Until next time, Bassano. 🇮🇹❤️

Day 2 at La Leggenda di Bassano 🇮🇹❤️

The roads.
The scenery.
The people.
The cars.

A reminder that collector vehicles are about much more than horsepower.

They are about experiences, memories, and the stories created along the way.

And La Leggenda always delivers plenty of both.

Day 1 of La Leggenda has been spectacular 🇮🇹

Three years.
Countless memories.
And some of the most beautiful collector cars on the road.

Events like this remind us why we love these machines.

Not because they sit in garages.

Because they are driven.

See you in Bassano. 🏁

Throwback to Monaco 🇲🇨🏁

While everyone was watching Formula 1 last weekend, we were reminded of another side of Monaco.

The side where automotive history still echoes through the streets.

The side where legendary cars, unforgettable stories, and generations of motorsport come together in one place.

Because Monaco isn’t just about the next winner.

It’s also about remembering the cars that helped shape automotive history.

Some places host races.

Monaco creates legends.

❤️🏁

One of the unexpected things about serving on a CONCOURS jury is this:

The cars that stay with you are rarely the ones you expected.

You arrive thinking you’ll spend the whole day talking about the obvious stars.

The legends.
The icons.
The cars everyone already knows.

And then something strange happens.

A slightly overlooked car.
An unusual story.
An owner with genuine passion.

Suddenly that’s the car everyone is standing around discussing.

Not because it’s the most valuable.

But because it makes people feel something.

After all these years around collector cars, I’ve become convinced that the best cars don’t just impress.

They connect.

They remind us of a moment, a person, a dream, a poster on a bedroom wall, or the first time we heard an engine that gave us goosebumps.

That’s why I enjoy events like Concorso of Cool so much.

The cars are remarkable.

But the conversations they create are even better.

So I’m curious:

What’s the one car you’ve seen that you still think about years later?

And was it actually the most expensive one? 😉

One of the biggest mistakes I see is assuming that paperwork verifies a car.

A thick file creates confidence.

And sometimes that confidence is deserved.

But documents tell a story.

The vehicle still has to support it.

Over the years, I have inspected cars with impressive archives, certificates, invoices, and photographs where important technical questions remained open.

Not because the documents were wrong.

But because documentation and verification are different things.

That is why I never stop at the paperwork.

I want to understand whether the physical vehicle aligns with the story being presented.

Because in collector vehicles, the details matter.

And the details are often where the truth lives.

A collector once told us:
“I know the car. I’ve owned it for years.”
And perhaps that was true.
But ownership creates familiarity.
Familiarity can create assumptions.
And assumptions are rarely reviewed until a decision suddenly becomes urgent.
A sale.
An insurance discussion.
A family transfer.
A restructuring conversation.
That is where serious collectors think differently.
Because an important vehicle is never only about condition.
It is also about what changes quietly around it.
Documentation evolves.
Market context shifts.
Ownership structures become more complex.
Valuation assumptions age.
The vehicle may look exactly the same.
Its context does not.
Periodic review is not about looking for problems.
It is about maintaining clarity before decisions depend on it.
When was the last time you asked these questions?

A collector vehicle can sit still for years.

In the garage, under cover, carefully maintained.

At first glance, nothing appears to have changed.

But markets move.

Buyer appetite shifts.
Benchmark sales redefine expectations.
Insurance logic evolves.
What felt defensible 18 months ago may no longer reflect reality today.

This is where serious ownership begins to look different.

Most collectors revisit value when a decision becomes urgent.

A sale.
A transfer.
A restructuring conversation.
An insurance discussion.

Serious collectors prefer clarity before urgency.

Because a collector vehicle is never only about condition.

It is also about context.

Market context.
Ownership context.
Valuation context.

Periodic review is not about reacting to problems.

It is about maintaining confidence in the decisions that may come later.

The strongest ownership strategies are proactive.

If your assumptions have not been reviewed recently, it may be time to ask whether the context still supports them.

Some spaces are defined by what they show.
Others are defined by what they bring people into.

That was our impression at the opening of @banzai.collection Legacy Lab on Saturday.

What makes this place stand out is not display alone.
It is the sense that everything here is built around connection: connection to design, to memory, to cultural legacy, and above all to people.

That is what gave the evening its weight.

Because meaningful automotive culture does not live in objects alone.
It lives in the conversations around them.
In shared references, shared curiosity, and shared values.
In the way a space invites people not only to look, but to engage, reflect, and relate.

Banzai Legacy Lab feels strongest precisely there.
Not as a backdrop, but as a meeting point.
Not as a showcase, but as a place where community, identity, and cultural memory come together in a credible way.

We believe that real substance begins where image gives way to meaning.
And meaning is created most powerfully through human connection.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this space to life. taken in Banzai.Collection by @niclasvg

Originality is rarely as obvious as it appears.
What defines authenticity lies in details that are often overlooked:

patterns of aging, component consistency, and subtle inconsistencies.
These are not visible at first glance

but they define the integrity of a vehicle.
A single incorrect detail can influence the entire narrative and value.

Verification is not about what is visible.

It is about what is not immediately seen.

What you don’t see is what matters most.

Roma. Concorso. Jury.

Being part of a jury especially at this level
means more than evaluation.

It means spending time with people who look closely,
think critically, and bring their own perspective
and high-level expertise into the discussion.

And it reminds you of something fundamental.

There is a reason why standards, clarity,
and substance matter.

Not as an abstract idea
but as a lived reality.

I have seen what happens when judgment is weak.
When processes are unclear.
When responsibility is not defined.

The consequences are not theoretical.

They affect outcomes, trust,
and long term value.

Experiences like this shape how you work.

They shift your focus away from appearance
towards what actually holds.

Across contexts, the same principle applies:

Integrity.
Structure.
And the willingness to look closely.

Because in the end,
substance is not a style.

It is a test.
And this is exactly where most decisions begin.

Not with a report
but with clarity.
