Would you hike a mountain to get to another village? In the Edo period that was the only option. We walked 7kms between Magome & Tsumago & the views were breathtaking. This time last year we were in Kyoto, in the middle of our Japan trip. We wanted to see as many shrines and gardens as possible to try and beat the summer heat. After figuring out public transit, we took a bus up to a shrine surrounded by waterfalls. It was significantly cooler the higher up the mountain we got. It felt very peaceful and was beautiful to look at. As a water sign, I absolutely loved it, felt right at home. We decided against eating at one of the restaurants on top of the moving water (limited selection + tourism prices) and headed back down the mountain to our accommodation in Kyoto ⛰️ taken in Kyoto, Japan by @nicnyff
