The Battle for the Valley was held tonight on "Senior Night." The Ysleta Indians came to the Riverside and had their asses handed to them by the Rangers 58-40!

Apparently, according to everyone in my family, Hometown Buffet sucks. When did that happen?

The only one that liked it was my grandson Xander, and me. Steak is steak or at least last time I checked it was. by @nicodemus_dad

An evening with Boz Skags. I have always been a fan of the boss. He has an awesome and unique blues sound to this guitar and his voice has always put a spring to my step.

I found out tonight that he has written dozens of sounds for other bands, the Eagles, I mean all kinds of really popular songs. You would be surprised.

On Saturday morning I admitted myself to the hospital because I had a hard time sleeping and my sat rates dropped to the 70's. I thought, okay, I better go in before I get a heart attack. My saturation rates were 78.

I had every test run and everything came back good but my saturation rates. My heart, my lungs, all perfect. The doctors were absolutely stumped.

Even the Pakistanisi and Indian doctors couldn't figure it out. My sat rates are still 78 and never went up

I even had 4 cats scans, Mri' s and even 2 ekgs, and two types of Echos and they found nothing.

One echo checked to see if I had holes in my heart. It doesn't. I took every blood test and they sent me home with Oxygen. I have doctors appointment in a few days. I'm going to do a sleep study.

Maybe God is just telling me to get ready. Either way, it's whatever he wants, not me. by @nicodemus_dad

Dear Diary,

Super proud of my overly ambitious, smart and beautiful daughter Hannah who is this year's Junior Class Princess for Riverside High School for 2026!

I am also proud of our football team, who beat the power house Seminole Indians on home coming 51-48 !!!! The pictures are from last year's game of the Seminole trophy room.

The Seminoles came to town with a racist chip on their shoulders, calling our players " beaners" and " border jumpers."

They should have just shut up and spared our boys their racist rants. The Rangers started hitting them like I've never seen them hit anyone!

They hurt about three of their players, and took the game to them hard! RHS was winning 47-37 in the 4th with 5 minutes left, when the refs called a 30 minute break for rain and lightning.

The Rangers could have called the game as per the rules, but they gave the Seminoles the opportunity to play the last 5 minutes. Guess what, they still lost! Way to go Rangers!!!! by @nicodemus_dad

Dear Diary,

What an awesome night. It's been cold and raining all day and I had to blow off my work day, so I came to hang out with some friends at some shit hole bars after church.

I can't believe how cold it is out there. 🥶 Oh well, I do have to work tomorrow, so I better go home and get some shut eye. I've been informed that I wear entirely too much blue. 🤔😂🍻 by @nicodemus_dad

Dear diary,

Today after mass I went to buy my bi-monthly allotment of survival food. I've been stocking up on all kinds of canned goods and dry goods for a while.

These supplies will keep my family feed no matter what happens- Market Crash, trucking strike, or even a famine.

Either way, next year will be much more expensive than this year. I also went to Sam's with Becca and to Chelitas for $7 burgers😋. They are huge and really delicious.

It's been a while since a hurricane has come through El Paso and I put up the hourlys, so you can see how much rain we are expecting. We've gotten good rain so far as you can see the lake in front of my motor home.

If Hurricane Polo does come through here, it will be disastrous as always, but oh well we need the rain.

We've been getting good rain all month long. The nice thing is that we've been cooling down really nicely and next week will be in the 70's.

If you haven't been stocking up on TP, honey, candles, and can goods etc, maybe you should. When shit hits the fan and it will, you will wish you had prepared better. It's always good to be prepared. by @nicodemus_dad

Dear Diary,

I did absolutely nothing today but sleep in until 9:10 and then get ready for church at noon and confession.

After church I went with Nicodemus and Becca to get some Mexican food in the hood before coming back home for a nap and then church at 4 pm, so I won't have to go tomorrow.

This humidity is a killer and my new properties are huge! I'm happy because my oaks are growing beautifully and I'm starting to sell some here and there.

Industrial clients are always the best ones because they don't bitch about the price. They know value when they see it.

An oak like the one in this picture is about 12 feet tall, has a 4 and a half inch trunk and will set you back $1500 and that's cheap.

In Phoenix they are $2500 a tree and are grown from grafted tree limbs. Mine are home grown here in El Paso from acorns and spoiled for 12 years, before I sell one.

They say for every live oak you plant on your property, it increases the value of that property by $10,000.

Most of my residential clients are wealthy Westside professionals, who actually know what they are getting and can appreciate the beauty, class and majesty that large live oaks represent. by @nicodemus_dad

Dear Diary,

Someone that has been a constant fixture in my life since 1977 was laid to rest today. Ray died on August 29th at M.D. Anderson in Houston from an aggressive cancer.

He was 48 and died just 4 days before his 49th birthday. Ray was a gentle giant, whose smile was contagious and lit up every room he entered.

He was the nicest guy in the world. Even when he was mad which wasn't very often, he still smiled. When he was nervous, he would laugh.

He was a super intelligent pragmatist and a really fun guy to hang out with and be around. Even though he was younger, his advice was always sound.

He made you feel important and cared for, and always put everyone ahead of himself. The kind of guy that would take people home at 3 am. after a night of boozing.

He was with me when we were almost victims of a bear attack, We out ran a tornado on the ground once in my new Toyota Truck and he was my travel buddy. We went everywhere together and had many adventures that we often laughed about when we got together.

All his high school buddies came from all over to say good bye and pay their respects. Even his best friend Andy Rubalcalva from the old neighborhood (grade school), who is now a deacon at Saint Patrick's did most of the officiating at his mass.

I will never forget Ray and I will always pray daily for my Carnalito. To those of you who know Rick Serna a.k.a. Jesus, he was Ray's brother.

Eternal Rest Grant unto him and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the soul of Ray Serna rest in peace. by @nicodemus_dad

Dear Diary,

Today was a mixed day for me. I picked up a really kick ass contract today thank God, but it is a huge twin plant and walking 20 acres on hot asphalt in hot and humid weather is not for the weak.

Brand new black top makes temperatures reach up to 130° and for a while there, it sure felt like it.

The back line had weeds the size of cars, but I don't give a damn. Far be it for me to back down from a challenge like that. I've seen and done worse.

I'm bummed out because Alex left a bran new $400 hedge trimmer behind and someone walked off with it. I also had to buy two new $400 blowers, so yeah, it sucks.

I went to church at Guadalupe as I do every night. Nico had part of his crew over for the football game and Taco night, but we had bad lightning, thunder and a lot of rain.

Enough to kill the Wifi, so I went up stairs to read, while Becca went to the Mall to find Hannah's Homecoming Court dresses.

One for the game and one for the dance. And then there's corsages and all of that extra fun stuff🥴🤑. We split the bill between us. As long as she is happy. Besides I only have one daughter.

On a lighter yet sadder note Bear ripped Xander's Bunny's ears off. He looks funny in a slightly depressive way.

I tried to watch the news today, but it made me pissed off 😡 and I had to just turn it off. The world can go to hell with Donald Trump if it wants, but not me or my wife.

We are just going to focus on the cross, and hope for the best. The beatitudes according to St.Luke was today's gospel reading in church. Those Franciscan Priests from Mexico City are super intelligent, insightful and to the point. by @nicodemus_dad
