We’re practicing up to play @frankgratkowski piece ‘Soubd 1’. It’s a series of multiphonics between 4 altos that last 30 min. We’re going to perform it with 5 altos cause why not? @missngmusic has organized this for us and of course will be playing along with @bea.chika.bea.boom @west.brodie Ben Rositan and myself. @wire.circus will play a solo set to open. WTETN is proud to announce that Spit! by Nicola Miller’s Living Things is out today. Adventurous in its composition and performance, on Spit! Nicola’s world class ensemble juxtaposes the organic and the inorganic. Algorithmic and spontaneous composition coalesce in ways that are at times bombastic, at times subtle.

We also offer congratulations to Nicola as she begins her PHD studies at the University of Toronto. The east coast music community is richer for her time here.

You can listen to Spit! in its entirety on most streaming services or on WTETN’s bandcamp page. Order your copy of the limited edition vinyl today!

Nicola Miller - Alto Saxophone
Frank Gratkowski - Bass Clarinet
Doug Tielli - Trombone
Nicholas D’Amato - Bass
Nick Fraser - Drums

Songwriter - Nicola Miller
Engineered by John D.S. Adams at Stonehouse Sound.

Frank Gratkowski @frankgratkowski and Doug Tielli are phenomenal musicians. What an amazing opportunity it’s been to compose for them and to play with them. Frank plays an incredible alto solo on the title track of the upcoming Living Things album - Spit! After that he switches over to bass clarinet for the remainder of the album. And just wait until you hear what Doug Tielli does with Telecommunications II. Beautiful! He plays trombone on the album which comes out this Friday with @watchthatendsthenightrecords . You can pre-order your copy today. by @nicolaleith
