I’m so grateful for my time with Victoria Buzz and I’ll always sing its praises. The team is incredible and the work I did with them put a huge spotlight on hundreds of local businesses, assisted in adding an increase to our local economy and encouraged growth in the Victoria, BC business scene.

I’m proud of the work we accomplished and excited to see the team grow and take the company even higher.

I’m so appreciative of the Buzz team I’ve gotten to work with over the past 10 years. A few special shout outs…

Thank you to @mikevicbuzz for taking a chance on me, for all of the times you trusted me and gave me the space to try things out, be creative and run with the work we were doing. I’m forever grateful.

Thank you to @seriouslyseanna for being my work bestie, for proofreading everything important, for being in charge of words and for being up for whatever bananas ideas I had for video content. We always had the best time!

Thank you to @_jadechamberlin_ for keeping everything on track. I’m so thankful you’re there doing the impeccable work that you’re doing and taking care of our clients so well.

Funny I don’t talk about this a lot on my social channels, it’s a huge part of my life.

I started leading worship when I was around 20, I’m 45 now and in the last 8 years I’ve been off and on since family life needed a bit more of my focus.

if you’re curious, here’s my background…

I went to a school of ministry at @catchthefire church in Toronto, followed by a one year internship with their conference planner, then I did another one year pastoral worship internship. I used to lead worship 2-4 times a week during that time and one year I counted 134 songs that I wrote. Not all of them were great and not all of them were finished, but they were all independent concepts.

It was literally my entire life for years and it gave me such a sense of purpose.

Since then, getting married, having kids and starting my career has also given me a great sense of purpose in life, but now that the kids are a bit older, I’ve gotten back into being on the worship team. I’m coming in at backing vocals and it feels so great to be a part of a team again.

This year I’ve also gotten back into songwriting and wrote four solid worship songs. I play them almost every single day and often play my piano and sing for hours.

I’ve started a @coastline_church small group at my house - my friends come over, I lead worship in my living room and we talk about God and what He’s doing in our lives.

So here’s me getting myself back on track with this side of my calling in life again - leading people into beautiful, honest moments of freedom in the presence of God. I’m not sure how it’s gonna play out, but I’ve started by making the first steps and I’m pretty excited about it

Life is good and it keeps getting better.
But it’s not accidental.

I was sick of spinning my wheels.

So sick of fighting to survive.

So sick of feeling less than.

SO sick of feeling like I wasn’t enough.

So sick of exhausting myself to outmaneuver the lies I believed about myself, to feel purpose, to provide for my family, to hold them up…. and to prove I was worth more than my trauma led me to believe.

So I did the uncomfortable and often painful work of pulling out all of those lies I believed about myself. Recognizing where they came from and deciding that was NOT how I was gonna life my life.

I chose new beliefs.

I spoke them out over my life, my family, my work and my purpose and guess what?

It worked.

So, your ‘red snakeskin pants’…

- What do yours look like? They can be client testimonials, the process of how you get things done, the standards and values of your business, charming behind the scenes moments, etc

- What’s keeping you from sharing? Maybe they’re so close to you that they’re not on your radar anymore, or maybe sharing these components feels a bit too vulnerable, or unprofessional or you’re concerned about alienating other audience members if you share.

- Could you integrate one or two into your current social media content plan?

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. We know the gifts, talents and skills we have, but for some reason we discount ourselves and remove ourselves from rooms and opportunities we know we should be in. It’s ok to believe you can do it, because you were kind of born to do it. by @nicole.bentham

I’ve had a lot of experience with this style of praying throughout my life. Intercession can be learned, but it’s also a gift from God and I come at it from both angles. I’ve been to school of ministry, I did two years of two different styles of pastoral internships, I’ve been a worship leader, I am a small group leader and I’ve been into fine-tuning my prayer life since I was six. I’m into it.

The reason I’m saying all of this is, it’s something I’ve practised a lot over the last 40 years and it’s wise to not dive into the deep end of this style of prayer if you’re new to praying or are a new believer. If you feel called to it, absolutely talk to your Pastor or leader first and ask them for guidance. Super important to not go alone with spiritual things.
