Just finished my 50th blood donation with @americanredcross. Very stoked about this milestone especially as a #heroforbabies, meaning I’m O- and CMV negative (which I don’t know much about but is rare too and important for babies).
.
I also have completed 4 donations with @kybloodcenter and 2 with @vitalantaz, and I plan to keep going!
.
If you can, please donate. A single donation can save up to three lives. by @nicole.climbs

Moments from La Foixarda Urban Climbing Tunnel in Barcelona from when I was still in Spain. I’m so glad I stopped by this place and I’m so glad I found great climbing partners while I was there. by @nicole.climbs

GUESS WHAT. I am now a voting member of the @loukydemparty executive committee!!!!
.
Just 13 months ago, I attended my first meeting with the Louisville Democratic Party’s Volunteer Committee where I met @jessicarhaggy. She invited me to coffee and asked me how I wanted to get involved. She mentioned that the @demwomansclubjeffco needed a secretary, and that’s where I met the amazing @hlrice01 and Brook Benningfield.
.
Since then, I have shown up at meetings, I have knocked hundreds of doors, I have been on the executive team of the volunteer committee, and I have worked with the fantastic @kywithmelina to get her elected to metro council where she rightfully should be.
.
And before all that, I saw a reel from @westernwatergirl talking about how you can help shape the direction of your local party if you just keep showing up, and that idea took root in my head and grew!
.
But I wouldn’t have gotten this involved if it wasn’t for @jessicarhaggy calling me in at that first meeting, the amazing community of women that inspire me to do the work including all those mentioned and the human embodiment of sunshine @warriorwhimsey, Brook Benningfield for encouraging me to apply and her incredibly kind words nominating me for the role, ALL the people who have shown up to events and to canvass with me even during this excessively hot summer, and so many more!
.
There is SO MUCH more to do, especially leading up to November 3rd where we have the chance to elect @booker4ky to take over Mitch McConnell’s senate seat, keep the Louisville Metro Council’s democratic majority (SO IMPORTANT), and keep good people who help prevent the policies that pass in the super majority republican state legislature from being absolutely abismal for us like @rachelroarxdistrict38.
.
And we need all of us. Whether you can give a singular hour, an hour each month, and hour each week, money, resources, anything you’ve got. We need you! by @nicole.climbs

Just two nerds in love ❤️ by @nicole.climbs

This is what patriotism means to me. Fighting the good fight.

I think patriotism should belong to the people for work for a more representative democracy and a better future for all of us. For the people who recognize and appreciate how much effort, how many people, and how much time it took for us to get to the place we are today.

There is a lot worth fighting and we are lucky to live in a place where we do have freedom of speech and freedom to protest and freedom to fight for our rights and avenues to do so. That is not the case in so many places still. It’s up to us to use the opportunities available to us to continue to build our country into the place it was promised to be. No one said the work would be easy, and it is a privilege to do it.

Happy 250th birthday to one of the longest standing, largest, and most diverse democracies 🇺🇸 by @nicole.climbs

In advance of James Day (@uncertainscientist’s birthday tomorrow), here are some of the many photos from my trip out to visit him in Salem, OR last month before he got to show off the amazing Bus Bus at the bus fair.
.
@jamesandthegiantbus has been working on this beauty for years. The last time I saw the bus, the interior was spray foam and studs, and it was SO freaking cool to see in person what he has done with it over the last year.
.
I got to help with grouting the shower. I thought I would be able to do more than that in my time out there, and I did get to do a few other bits and bobs like installing the outlet covers incorrectly, but instead I also got some first hand perspective on how much longer than anticipated some of these things take. I’m glad I was able to help free up some of James’s time though because he was able to get to a lot more.
.
It was so good to have some time with my best friend after his year based in Salem and to see all the roots he grew out there. I loved seeing all the places he frequents and all the people who appreciate him everywhere he goes really, and now out in the north west too. Not pictured is all the amazing vegan food we had.
.
We also got a day in of exploring spots along the Oregon coast and we even ran four miles on a hot day with still exceedingly cold ocean water.

If you have the opportunity to see @timesliptheatre’s adaption of The Masque of the Red Death and their amazing theater space, you should!
.
It was awesome to see @give_me_all_the_weird and the rest of the actors perform! And to have an excuse to dress up in red ❤️
