@loneillbutler sent me on a lil uptown quest to see the Broodthaers Society of America’s current exhibit, IBM: CHANCE ENCOUNTERS WITH A SELECTRIC II TYPEWRITER.

The space is on the parlor level of a Harlem brownstone and director Joe Scanlon has assembled a wonderful trove of typewriter art for your inspiration and delight. You should reach out and make an appointment—it’s so fun.

Over the course of 10 weeks, we read contemporary writers, including @nifmuhammad, @cathyparkhong, and @jo.ann.beard2, and practice generative writing strategies. If you’re looking for some support for your writing this summer, I’d love to work with you! To register, see link in bio. The Vuillard show at @skarstedtgallery is wonderful. I keep thinking about these figures framed by doorways and darkness and other architectural details as if poised at the edge of a void. Edouard Vuillard, Woman in front of a Glass-Partitioned Door

A figure appears as a dark silhouette against a door whose glass panes glow with yellow light. Geometric lines and shapes in the background are brown and rust-colored. by @nicole______miller

My beloved friend @nickipombier is writing with such guts and humor and intelligence and moral clarity about her life as a parent and histories of disability. Every single post is a stunner. If you’re a parent, it’s for you. If you live in America, it’s for you. If you’re pissed off, it’s for you. If you like a good joke, it’s for you. by @nicole______miller

An excellent excursion in Harlem and the Upper East Side tracking the waterfront (and a lot of other public art). Thanks to @works_on_water for providing the prompt!
