We are back with another spotlight!

For this post, we have . . . Nicole Contente! 👏

This is Nicole's second year playing with Our Lady of Light Symphonic Band. She is a Bristolian, Rhode Islander, and has always been involved with bands and music. Nicole has a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design from Syracuse University, and has recently started Rhode Island College's Master's in Art and Teaching program this year! 👩‍🏫

There are so many pieces Nicole has played, it's hard to pick just one. Rasanto Gallante, David R Holsinger, and John Williams are a few of her favorite composers with many well-known pieces in the music world. 🎼

Nicole's favorite part about our concerts is that "it's always a full house, people really enjoy listening to us, and it's even better when we get to dress up with the theme of the show!" She is happy to have found a group close by with such a great community of players. 😊

Nicole has been playing with the East Bay Summer Wind Ensemble for about 10 years now, and occasionally helps out with the youth group as well. Nicole constantly fills in for other roles, such as keyboard/background vocalist for By George (George Harrison Cover band), Community String Project's Orchestra, and her own cover band, Manchester Street! 🎤

Nicole knew in 4th grade that she'd follow in her mom's footsteps and play her clarinet. "I had to wait until 6th grade to join the band, but since then, I haven't stopped playing. Later in high school, I taught myself the Tenor Saxophone (and a little flute), and during college (with the help of music theory), I was able to become more proficient in piano". 🎹

A fun fact about Nicole is that she makes her own clothes for special occasions! 🧵 by @nicolecontentemusic

O Holy Night

Getting into the Christmas spirit (1/3 finals done wohoo!) by revisiting this challenging song, along with others, and (after about 12 takes) I'm actually happy how this one came out!

Hope you enjoy🎄 taken in Bristol, Rhode Island by @nicolecontentemusic

Incomplete by James Bay - Window Session

Recorded about a year ago when I started adding James Bay to my repitiore. Pushing my range on the low end (for once) by keeping the original key was definitely a challenge, but I am pleased with the results. Dynamics, switching between voices, and using the correct diphthongs were kept in mind when rehearsing! by @nicolecontentemusic
