’Twas the night before Pride Month, and all through the street,
Not a dull color lingered—just rainbows and beat.
The banners were hung on the porches with care,
In hopes that bright joy soon would fill up the air.

The children lay dreaming of parades yet to come,
Of glitter and dancing and pride drums that drum.
While chosen families and friends gathered near,
Sharing their stories with laughter and cheer.

The sidewalks were chalked in bold colors so bright,
Each message of love glowing soft in the night.
“No fear,” “You belong,” “Be proud of your name,”
Each word like a spark, each heart like a flame.

Then out on the corner arose such a sound,
A chorus of voices, both gentle and loud.
I peeked out the window, what could it be?
A crowd full of joy, wild and wonderfully free.

They wore every color, each flag held up high,
With stars in their eyes and dreams reaching sky.
From elders with wisdom to youth just begun,
All shining together like rays of one sun.

And then in a flash, like a story retold,
Came whispers of courage from days long and bold.
Of battles once fought, of voices once hushed,
Now blooming like flowers that never stay crushed.

“Remember,” they sang, “how far we have come,
But also keep marching—there’s work to be done.”
Their voices rang clear through the warm summer air,
A promise of love that all souls deserve care.

As midnight drew near and the moon took its height,
The world seemed to shimmer in soft rainbow light.
A feeling of hope settled deep in my chest,
A sense that tomorrow would bring out our best.

So I whispered aloud, as they faded from sight,
“Happy Pride Month to all—and to all a proud night.” 🌈✨

Happy Birthday to our Super Sassy/Spicy JJ! You are so funny and creative. I don’t know where the time went because just yesterday you were my chunky little baby and now you’re a preschooler! You are who you are and you do not put up with anything you don’t want to. We named you after Jen and I feel like she put a part of her in you from heaven. I love how much you care about your brother. I hope you two stay best friends forever. We love you Jennifer Jo and can’t wait to see what this year brings! Happy Birthday J! by @nicoledanley

Happy 43rd Birthday in heaven Jen. It’s still hard to believe we haven’t celebrated your birthday with you since you were 15. It’s not fair you’re gone and I’ll never quite understand it. All I can do is keep your memory alive and tell Dax and JJ about you and what you were like. 🤍 You will always be missed and thought of every single day. We may have lived on but there’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think about what our lives would be like if you were still here. What holidays would look like. What cousins my kids would have. What relationship I’d have with having an older sister. We love you and miss you 🤍 by @nicoledanley
