Still not finding the right words to describe the beauty of Alaska
I shed some tears flying over the tundra, forests, winding salmon rivers and volcanic landscapes
(I shouldn't have to tell you that we should all care more about Mother Earth)
I plan to get a lot better at catching fish
(and subsequently holding on to them for a second, I hope)
We saw all the fattest of all the bears
And flew around in beavers
With the best of friends
Everyone got a bit older this year (lots of candles)
And we saw the Caribou swim by @nicolemwing

Missing Midg. We weren't even thinking about a second pup when Midg befriended Hank. Midg came home for a "trial" weekend on Pat's birthday. Despite beating Hank to the ball every time, she always let him bring it back to us so that she could get a head start out to retrieve the next throw. After that first weekend none of us ever looked back; she was all ours but in all reality we were hers. At first she was a little anxious, but it turns out a little consistency with dogs goes a long way. She traveled coast to coast; at first with some help from medication and then on her own like an experienced traveler. According to every veterinarian Midg met, she was the kindest and sweetest cattle dog to walk this Earth. Midg never missed an opportunity to cuddle and to sneak her nose under your resting arm to nudge it up over her head for some scritches. We had six years with her and only wish we had a few more. by @nicolemwing
