Open letter to my love
Today I find myself a little more emotional than usual (if that’s even possible, haha)… while I’m here reflecting on everything this life has brought us in such a short time, I also catch myself imagining all that we still have ahead… I might have to pause this text a few times, because a mini version of me and you is here demanding every second of my attention… and even though it’s incredibly challenging, I love it…
Okay, I already had to stop because he woke up just to show me he learned how to spit 🤭😅
Nothing and no one prepares you for marriage after kids… Everything seems so beautiful and easy when we can make plans freely, without worrying about other responsibilities, when we can stay up late watching a movie or exploring somewhere new because the next day we don’t have to get up early to attend to another being’s needs… Even though we shared the experience of being parents from the very beginning of our relationship, we still had a few days each month to be just the two of us…
Now that we have a new member in the family, things have gotten a bit more complicated 😅 we no longer have free time, loving each other isn’t as easy after hours awake at night, feeding, burping, countless diaper changes, or just being there for him during a growth spurt… and it’s in these moments that we start questioning everything and everyone. I always knew that sleep deprivation would be my greatest enemy during these times… but I’m so grateful that amidst all of this, we still find our way back to each other.
Thank you for working so hard and being the provider for our family, thank you for showing me “this side of life,” completely different from anything I ever dreamed for myself, but so much more rewarding… I know I don’t always manage to show my gratitude but I promise to try harder from now on… thank you for not giving up on us when all I could see was the dark side of things…
