It's going to be a beautiful fall day at the @aapi_chs Harvest Festival! Sunday from 1-4 at the @navyyardchs. I'll be there with little originals for the holidays (I know) plus have some past favorites up @nidumgallery with @malayalilog. A little rain won’t stop us!! While the weather had other plans for our closing party, we’re excited to announce that we’re extending @keladreams show through Tuesday! The gallery will be open Monday & Tuesday, 10 AM–4 PM for one last chance to come by, see the work, and spend some time with us. During @keladreams artist talk, we learned how these photographs were created and it was incredibly interesting! KELA has such a creative vision and they trust their instincts to get some really special pieces of art! The closing reception of this show is from 4-7 on October 10! This is a big moment for me, and I want to share this moment with you!

It’s been a hectic year but this is the last hoorah..

This is your personal invitation to join us in opening of my exhibition Exposed: Roll One at Nidum Gallery @nidumgallery on Friday, September 25th from 5:00-8:00pm.

I am so grateful to be exhibiting with the great folks at Nidum and to tell stories through the work I get to share in this exhibition, Exposed: Roll One.

Exposed is an homage to analogue photography, and I cannot wait to tell you what all of this means to me during my artist talk at 6:00pm.

It is so meaningful for me to have the platform to share special moments I have captured with you. It would be a blessing for your presence on my opening night if you can make it. It is looking like a beautiful day and evening to be outside (hello autumn!).

Nidum will so graciously provide refreshments, so please come view and socialize in this special community space.

This ONE NIGHT ONLY show from mother/daughter duo @cjyummies and @artbycason was so fun! It was beautiful to see everyone show up to support these two women. A super exciting thing is happening.. KELA (yeah, that’s me!) is having a final solo show of the year exhibiting at Nidum Gallery (@nidumgallery)!

This exhibition is entitled, EXPOSED: Roll One.

The show opens on Friday, September 26th with a reception to celebrate! Mark your calendars, and tell a friend to tell a friend :)

EXPOSED: Roll One is an honoring and spotlight of analogue photography: finding joy in the risk of experimentation and the beauty of not knowing what will happen next. With my practice of exclusively capturing images on film, I explore how light, time, and the world around us can shape an image in unexpected ways through my efforts of double and triple exposures, use of experimental film, and capturing self-portraits.

The process of shooting on film invites patience, acceptance, and a willingness to embrace imperfection. It becomes a mindful experience, encouraging me to slow down, pay attention to the intricacies of the ordinary, and embrace the beauty of imperfection.

Through these images, I invite viewers to embrace the unexpected, lean into the grace of shortcomings, take notice in the details of the mundane, and find joy in the process of creating. EXPOSED is a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful things are revealed when we allow ourselves to slow down, take a chance, and see what develops.

**All frames for each photo are hand-built, stained, and assembled by the artist 🤙🏽. Come see the hard work put into fully curating this collection **
