LOOK 5 • JULIET

Juliet is a member of high society. She resents the title and role she was born with, while also appreciating the luxuries it has afforded her. She is being all consumed by the role she must play to maintain her ranking in society. This look represents the lie of “equal opportunity for all”.

Juliet was heavily inspired by the costume design for Poor Things by @hollywaddingtoncostume , one of my all time favorite films. The bra & waist corset were created last November for an artist collaboration with @hotelfiction , a project that kept me sane during the most triggering election period of my life. The skirt was created in May 2024 for my sister’s senior prom. The tutu petticoat & puff sleeve top were made this November specifically for 𝔖𝔥𝔞𝔱𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔢𝔡 𝔉𝔞𝔟𝔩𝔢. I upcycled the tutu petticoat from the tulle under layer of a donated prom dress. I did this by sewing the hem of the tulle to the waistline, which created a bubble shape with a body firm enough to support the heavy weight of the layered skirt. The top was upcycled from a romper by cropping it into a top, and adding my own puff sleeves. The sleeves alone took about 2 hours to pattern, and another 2 hours to assemble & attach. Hand cut vintage lace that I sourced on a trip to Paris last summer, can be found sewn across the front of the top & around the neck for added detail & texture.

The mask was custom made by @sarah.snapdragons and took over 7 hours of hand beading & assemblage to complete.
