made my debut in Berlin at @berlinatonal to kick off this run! what an experience. so much love in the space. felt good to release and fill a very industrial space with blood and bones and soul. can feel myself moving myself out of the way bit by bit. i’m excited to see what comes through 🪞 next stop Prague with @titanic_mp3 and @fyilbw_band at @studiohrdinu x @heartnoizepromotion

edit: yall they got orange squirrels in Berlin!

giving thanks to my lovely agents @wendycatkinsakakatarzyna (we didn’t take a picture 😭) and Tommyyy. more dates tba in case i can’t get to you this run. by @niecyblues

“Has there been a more striking, fully formed debut this year? we think maybe not.
Niecy Blues draws effortless parallels between gospel and experimental production, but rather than taking a left turn like Klein, she follows an opiated route through R&Bx Jazz Ambient shimmers, somewhere between Erykah Badu, Dawuna, Martina Topley-Bird, and Kelela.
Just stunning ++

My second single “U Care” is out today exclusively on Bandcamp (link in bio)
A sonic/lyrical exploration of sorrow…of going under…then drowning… then hearing the faintest whisper. I just needed a whisper. This one is dedicated to my grandaddy Willie Wrisper who has transitioned out of this earthly plane. He kept making his presence known throughout the process of working on Exit Simulation and he moves through this song just the same. There’s so much I want to share but in due time.

A super special thank you to @quranshaheed on keys who created one of my favorite moments on this record! You are a WONDER.

🎂 my bday fell on a full moon, my old friend visited me in a dream and we were laughing and singing together. feels like this next one is gonna be a good one. this last one was tough but i grew sooo much. my practice and relationship to composing changed. the silence felt really loud at times and of great comfort in other times. asked myself some reallll hard questions. being patient as the answers unfold. im gonna take a few more bites out of the cake 🎂

in case you wanna send me a treat ;)

popping back out briefly for my australian debut! i’ve been taking a pause from live shows and have been deep in a space of writing, alchemy, dreaming, excavation and intimate collaboration. at this phase, coming up for air in communion with a different continent feels really mouth watering to me right now. also feels dissonant to be so far from the terror at home, to be traveling at all as an artist, and to have that appear a way when in reality, i’m barely making ends meet. giving honor and dedicating this offering to those who stood before me in alignment with what is just and what spirit led them to for the betterment of the human race. we don’t get long in these bodies, in this timeline, in this earth. gotta be present with what’s required of us and at what cost.

Niecy Blues is a composer, songwriter, vocalist, thespian, multimedia artist, and instrumentalist based in South Carolina, originally growing up on the prairie fields of Oklahoma. Exploring themes such as grief, self-acceptance, lineage, ritual, and emotional vulnerability in her work, Blues continues a heritage of Black women using both sound and writing to engage in the ceremony of self-determination and documentation.

Blues describes their songwriting process like an undertow: “I feel a strange pull, and let it carry me, following swirling leaves… whole days roll by, forgetting about the body.” Their full-length debut album, Exit Simulation, released by Kranky, captures this sense of deep-rooted divination, cycling between simmering ballads, ghosted R&B, downtempo gospel, and looped vocal improvisations—often within the same track. Exit Simulation has received glowing reviews from Pitchfork, Boomkat, Resident Advisor, PopMatters, and several other celebrated and respected music publications. Blues has also been recognized in Crack Magazine for her breakout performance at the world-renowned Rotterdam music festival, Rewire, during her first solo European tour.
Blues has recently showcased at London music festival staples, We Out Here and All Points East, and completed a performance residency with Galeria Zé dos Bois (ZDB) in Madeira, Portugal. Niecy is currently exploring new sounds for her sophomore album and scoring projects, in addition to finalizing a short film with collaborator Ryan C. Clarke.
