Rest in peace to the king.

I remember the first time I met Gregg was 30 years ago at the First Unitarian Church in Philly. His band the Delta 72 was so ahead of their time, while also being such a nod to his soul roots and upbringing. It was a hardcore show. Everyone was totally blown the hell away. Like witnessing something special that we didn’t understand or deserve.

I remember him jumping off the speakers at the TLA while opening for Rocket From the Crypt. Which seemed like 20 feet high… into a split with his guitar, thinking he broke his legs. He always had a knack for outperforming any band he played with.

He was the first dj spinning soul 45s at the alternative clubs in the late nineties. He inspired countless other djs, including myself.

I remember him helping me push my Vespa home when I was 21 years old. He was like a celebrity to me at the time.

The epitome of cool. And if you got to know him well enough, a total goofball and one of the funniest people you could ever meet.

Endlessly talented and one of a kind.

See you in the next life, brother. by @night.weapons
