A kid from Stafford VA to graduating in fl. That’s now going to New York and wrestling. This journey has been a lot deeper than most people probably realize. A lot of people see “Nik Blake” now and think good wrestler, successful, confident, always happy, never stressed, never sad. But the truth is, there were a lot of moments behind the scenes where I was struggling mentally, emotionally, and physically trying to figure life out just like everybody else.
I wasn’t always the most liked kid growing up. I didn’t always fit in, didn’t always have a huge group around me, and there were a lot of times I felt overlooked or alone. There were moments I doubted myself, failed, lost, and honestly thought about giving up.
Wrestling was no different. People see the accomplishments now. State champion, U20 World Team member, nationally ranked. But they don’t see the years of getting beat in the room, the losses that hurt more than people know, the pressure, the frustration, and the nights questioning if all the work was even worth it.
But one thing I learned through all of it is that your lowest moments do not define you. Failing does not mean quit. Losing does not mean leave. Sometimes the hardest seasons of your life are the seasons building you into the person you are supposed to become. Every setback, every loss, and every lonely moment gave me something I needed later in life.
And the biggest thing I learned is that family is not always blood. Family can be built. It is the people who stay beside you through every version of yourself. The broken version, the angry version, the exhausted version, and the successful version. The people who help pick you up when you cannot do it yourself. To my friends, family, coaches, teammates, and everyone who stuck with me from Stafford to now, thank you. Thank you for believing in me when I struggled to believe in myself. Thank you for every lesson, every conversation, every ride, every practice, every opportunity, and every moment that helped shape me into who I am today. And to friends family and everyone not here I just want to say thank you too and a big thank you to my hagerty family thank you I wouldn’t have it another way ❤️ by @nik.blake

Big thanks to my family, teammates, and all my coaches Diaz, Cuozzo, Jessee, Clay, and Gumble for believing in me, pushing me, and taking the time to help me grow on and off the mat.

Thank you to all the Binghamton staff for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to better myself and grow as both a person and a wrestler. I’m super thankful to be a part of this team.
