BASKETBALL ART IVE MADE RECENTLY 🏀🎨

I started out with just an idea to try to bring basketball into the fine art world. I was lucky to get some initial support and a teacher who spent time asking me ‘how do you make a good painting about basketball?’ I’ve tried to bring mythology, devotion, worship into the paintings building off of the story, and celebration that surrounds the game. I’ve also tried to bring the element of movement and speed into the drawings and some of the paintings to have the feeling of fast paced sports evident. This has been a long a journey and it’s not over yet. My goal is to be a documentarian of the game and bring this sport that has given so much to me into a brighter light.

Above the Rim, the beauty of basketball 🏀🎨
A basketball themed art exhibition happening in Berkeley, CA.
THIS WEEKEND ONLY - 🗓️Dec 13th and 14th 12-8pm
📍2033 University Ave, Berkeley📍

🏀Above the Rim, features over 30 works by local Berkeley artist, Niko Alexander, as he reimagines basketball through the lens of fine art, mythology, and devotion.
This body of work elevates the sport to sacred status-viewing basketball as more than a game and celebrating it with the same attention that has been given to historical and biblical subjects in art throughout human history.
🖼️His paintings hope to build a mythology around the sport of basketball, as the arena becomes a hallowed space where players are revered as modern-day saints, their feats and stories immortalized.
🍾Come stop by this weekend, refreshments provided all day, in addition to giveaways, prints and stickers for sale. You don’t want to miss this!!

Valkyries Drawn in Crayon 🖍️💜🗡️ pt. 3
drawings will continue through the finals and (hopefully) all the way through the CHMAPIONSHIP!!

Honestly this Valks run has been such a beautiful display of community, Bay Area Culture and pure hoops. So glad that I pulled out my crayons and started drawing, I feel like I’m becoming part of the story or at least adding to the story in some way. These moments will be apart of this teams history for all time and they’re literally still just getting started.

I’ll be at the game tomorrow, if you see me say what’s up! I don’t think I’ll be able to have any prints to give away yet but maybe a later game or at least somewhere at the arena in the coming days and weeks.

Go Valks let’s bring home the Chip 💜💜💜 YERRRRRR

Art of Sneakers Vol. 3 🎨👟
For Oakland Style Week, we activated a vacant, ex-shoe store and filled it with a pop up art exhibition highlighting sneaker designers, customizers and all around sneaker artists from the Bay Area 🌉 and beyond 🌍. The exhibition only lasted the weekend but we are building a community of sneakerheads and artists and bringing this artform into the spotlight where it belongs. Stay on the lookout for more events coming from our leader @solespacelab the incredible creative mind that has elevated sneaker culture in Oakland with a focus on Upcycling, Recreation and Sustainability.

Also big shoutout to @bruceleefoundation for the generous loans of these rare Bruce Lee Kicks and Raffle Items. The show wouldn’t have been the same without that touch from one of the greatest of all time!

And the @valkyries for their collaboration on the SneakHER design workshop which was featured as well!

Art of Sneakers will be back!

Valkyries Drawn in Crayon 🖍️ 💜🗡️ (2026)

more coming soon …

The crayons have been a super fun, and quick way to capture moments in sports, celebrations, action and emotion show up even through the rough lines of the crayon. The looseness adds to the motion and it creates a very different feeling than what I get with my paintings. Gonna try to follow the Valks all the way through the playoffs, this is just the first round so far.

Stay Tuned… #nikoalexander #crayonart #wnba #valkyries @valkyries @espnw @wslam @veronicaab22 @kstokes41 @kaitlyn.chen @tiphayes3 by @nik0alexander
