I'm recent days I've been in this rabbit hole that I can't get out of and it's all because of my need for truth. I'm getting older now and to be honest although I've been into the dunk silhouette since 03 there are things that I just remember differently and dates don't add up for me. Now usually that would be simple, do some research, a little bit of fact checking, and boom problem solved... Well with Nikes history that isn't the case and I have only now begun to understand that Nike themselves are still proving it all together. Like how are there no records on who the creative brand director of Co.jp of that time!?!?! Like what!!! Even stories about key players in the game, (at least in New York) like Daniel jebbia from clientele. Tons of info on his brother but the one shop that actually sourced these super rare regional exclusives and brought them over to us on the East Coast there's not much of anything. I'm hoping to get to the bottom of it all once key player at a time even if it has to takes me out of my comfort zone and I had to start reaching out myself. Been doing a bit of a deep dive into Japanese street culture and the numerous different magazines and catalogues from the 90's and I can't remember the last time I've had a reading session like that lol. Nigo's debut "last orgy 2"... ...In 1993, NIGO stepped onto the world of fashion as a co-editor of a column at Popeye magazine (super important piece of Japanese street culture) called "the last orgy 2" This column unfolded throughout 23 issues and these issues ran from 1993 to the summer of 1994. he also co-founded NOWHERE with Jun Takahashi in the same year. Nowhere was where A Bathing Ape was formed and sold. The bold iconographic A.O.print with even louder colors of his designs took Uru-harajuku (back blocks of harajuku) by storm, paired with the fact that these pieces were being dropped in limited quantities the appeal of it all was irrefutable for most. Shaping the future of fashion, art, and street culture as we know it today... Vintage NCAA Michigan Nike track jacket with 2020 Michigan dunks. You know it's crazy because for a while now I've been looking for a brand to start rocking heavy a brand that I could completely connect with and I've been looked into many different brands, different styles and overall athletic. Well I was searching and was about to land on a Japanese brand that I liked but then I got this jacket and it clicked. I had been searching for a brand to completely get behind and it's been here this whole time. 90's Nike is about to be it.
