I'm Back... and Starting Again I've been quietly working behind the scenes on new content, and today I'm excited to share that I'm back.Earlier this February, I received some difficult news. After 7 years in a place that gave me the freedom to photograph our squirrels in a truly unique way, I was told by a nature organization that I had to leave. No clear explanation. No solid reason. Just the end of a chapter that meant so much to me.I had to dismantle the squirrel setup we had built together with @francis.ruysen @johnnygenne with so much passion and dedication. It was heartbreaking and honestly took time to process.But nature has a way of teaching us important lessons.I realized that the connection we seek with wildlife isn't tied to one location. Whether it's a public forest, private land, or your own favorite corner of nature, meaningful encounters can happen anywhere. The magic isn't in the place itself it's in the effort, patience, and love you put into creating those opportunities.So instead of looking back, I'm looking forward. New locations. New ideas. New stories to tell.Every day is a new beginning. Embrace that feeling, trust the journey, and keep moving forward.Thank you to everyone who continues to support my work. For a long time, people knew me as the squirrel photographer or squirrelman 🐿️Which is funny, because I never actually planned that.One day I photographed a squirrel... Then another... And before I knew it, squirrels were making me crazy, getting me into newspapers, and becoming my unofficial managers. 😂But lately I've been feeling something different.A stronger drive to push myself further.To create images that tell bigger stories.To stop chasing likes and start chasing moments.Don't worry, the squirrels aren't being fired. They just have to share the spotlight now. 😅Because there are still so many dreams waiting.🇺🇬 Standing knee-deep in a Ugandan swamp hoping to find a Shoebill Stork With travel agency @runningwildtravels. 🇬🇧 Lying on windy cliffs in England trying to photograph Puffins without being blown into the sea.🇸🇮 Hiking through Slovenia searching for brown bears and marmots while questioning every life decision that led me there.The truth is, photography has become more addictive than ever.The Nikon Z8 certainly isn't playing around This account is Building .Bigger adventures. Bigger challenges. Bigger species.More wildlife. More action. More portraits. More black & white. More creativity.Less talking.More showing.The squirrels opened the door.Now it's time to see where the path leads. by @nikicolemont

I’ve been feeling more motivated than ever lately, which naturally led to a completely reasonable decision... buying more camera gear. 😅📸I recently picked up a Nikon Z8 paired with the Nikon Z 180-600mm from @bartokshophasselt, and wow... what a beast of a setup. 🔥At the same time, I passed my Nikon Z6III on to my girlfriend @ineguzik. She only started nature and wildlife photography a few months ago, but she's already creating some incredible images with it. Safe to say the camera is in very good hands. Go check out her recent posts and show her some support! 👏A huge thank you to @robyns for helping make that camera possible. 🙏After spending some time with the Z8, I can honestly say that the Z8 + 180-600mm is a deadly combination. The 45MP sensor gives me so much freedom in post-processing, and the extra resolution has completely changed how I approach both wildlife and portrait photography.The autofocus and subject tracking are on another level. I've already captured some of my best bird-in-flight shots, and the number of difficult images this setup makes possible is honestly ridiculous. The downside? Photography has become even more addictive. Now every outing turns into: "I wonder if I can pull off that impossible shot..." 🤦‍♂️😂Many of you found me through my squirrel photos, my story growing up in Belgium as a refugee, or the media attention those images received. I'm incredibly grateful for that journey, but I feel it's time for the next chapter.From now on, I want the photography itself to do the talking.Less storytelling about me.
