If you could create a record using AI for £20, would you spend £2,000 to make that same record with a human being?

I attended an apple music panel this week and something one of the panellists said has stayed with me.

He said that their job is to give people what they want and if the masses can't tell the difference between human-made and AI-generated music and are perfectly happy consuming the latter, then........

I keep wondering, is giving people what they want the same as giving them what's worth preserving?

What becomes of the countless hours spent learning an instrument, refining a voice and developing an artistic identity ??

If a machine can reproduce the outcome without enduring the process, does the process still matter?

If our policies begin to reward what can be produced over what it MEANS to create, what might we lose along the way? I mean apart from our jobs, our purpose and our ability to feel things without asking chatgpt to explain them? x

Just a little thought, but I feel like old tunes hit differently. I find myself more and more drawn to learning and playing them. They feel less calculated somehow and there’s room to breathe.... They’re not concerned with having short, catchy melodies repeated over and over for that instant dopamine hit. They feel like they were written to be felt, rather than engineered to be remembered.

Sometimes I wonder if we’ve become more numb to music now, so everything has to be more in your face, more immediate n punchy to cut through.

I don’t know, just wondering x

Forever chasing dreams ✨

Not because they will all come true
(perhaps some will),

but because even the dreams we never reach
will change the person who tried to reach them.

Isn’t that the very essence of life? x

Life isn't meant to be extraordinary everyday. The ordinary is enough when you give it love x

I’m at a point where I think I know which songs are going into my next collection. Now I’m trying to find the arrangements that feel right for each one. It feels a little like having a key and walking around looking for the lock it was made for. Love it! The best bit is the curiosity that comes with it x

Grateful to share that I’ve been awarded the PPL Momentum Accelerator funding ✨ This support is going towards the creation of my next EP. I’ve been hearing it in my head for a long time and I’m going to make a world not just for your ears, but a place you can step into and disappear 💫

Big love to @prsfoundation and @musicfuturesuk for supporting big dreams from independent artists.

I’m most alive when I sing live.

Sometimes it’s strange knowing the thing that feels most natural to me is the thing that takes the most work to earn space for.

But that’s the point, isn't it?

You don’t just find your place. You build it.

We all search for our own language to express that we are alive. Maybe every act of creation is a ritual of existence.
We make, we risk, we explore, not only to create something, but to say "I am here" 🌿

Niki Kand is the musician for My Final Note 🎭

Niki Kand is a jazz-influenced singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist blending traditional jazz with contemporary indie pop. Her music combines soft vocals, intimate storytelling, and dreamy textures that create a sense of escapism and emotional warmth.

Originally coming from a fine arts background, Niki turned fully towards music after graduating and gradually forged her artistic identity through years of experimentation across different styles and genres after settling in Liverpool.
