I’ve never painted on textile before, and that’s one of the many reasons I love making things as part of @hamictava so much - I have to learn how to do things I’ve never tried, and then it pays off when I work on my own projects.

This time, we hand-painted a sukkah outside @beit_hamecholot at Jaffa Port.

A sukkah is a temporary “home” built for Sukkot, remembering the shelters the Israelites lived in after leaving Egypt. Its roof is traditionally made from natural materials and ideally, you should be able to see the stars through it.

For my piece, I chose a few verses from a 1902 Yiddish poem by Avraham Reisen, “A Little Sukkah,” about a sukkah standing through the wind.

Come check out our works till the end of the holiday week on October, 3.

Also, see if you can spot any typos in my rendition of the poem, the original text is below 😅:

די סוכּה װעט שטײן יאָרן לאַנג. taken in Jaffa Port by @nikitabrokhman
