Happy Birthday to the best adventure buddy that anyone could ever ask for.

Charles is so many things. Among those is a lover of movies, of great food, an incredible dog dad, the best adventure buddy, my teammate for life, a really kind soul, a great cook, my best friend, an amazing Uncle, and so so so much more.

You have literally changed my life (for the better) & I can’t wait for so many more birthdays together.

HAPPY FOUR YEAR FRIENDAVERSARY!
Most people already know the story of us becoming friends. When we first arrived to Montreal, I put out a TikTok looking for friends, Emilie (Audrey’s wife) saw it and sent it to Audrey. Audrey smartly reached out on Instagram and 8 days later we were swimming in a quarry together. Haha

Making friends in your 30s is so hard. We have very limited time to spend together to solidify our connection. This year, we started sending each other voice memos (almost) every day. Even while life seems to get busier around us, we’ve done such a beautiful job of prioritizing each other.

I love you, @audreyymaudee! These 4 years of friendship have felt longer than that, in the best way possible. Here’s to many more years!✨💖🎉 by @nikki.thibodeau

“Does this outfit make me look gay?”
Is a question that I’ve been asking Charles, probably annoyingly, more often.

There has been an itch for me to tell people that I’m Queer / Gay, but it has felt kind of weird to do so. I’ve never “come out”, and have only really had a knowing for about 7 years. In that time, I met and married Charles.

Like any true Aquarius, I don’t like to be put in boxes, and I am not a big fan of labels. However, I saw a video recently that made me think that representation of journeys not often seen are important.

All I know is that I am absolutely not straight (bless) and I love people deeply. Some of them, a little more romantically than others.
Is this also a good time to mention that I’m ethically non monogamous and/or polyamorous? Again, labels are hard for me, I’m still figuring life out as I go.

I’m very lucky and also very aware that coming out doesn’t threaten my safety like it does for many others.
Coming out does feel like an act of resistance, though. It’s owning a piece of my joy a little more loudly today than I did yesterday.

Ate a ton of seafood, visited with my friends and family, spent a LOT of time with my BFF (the ocean), soaked in a couple sunsets; truly appreciated my hometown.

It’s really special when a hometown visit means a visit to the most beautiful place on earth. Spending time with those who mean so much to you.

This was one of the most soul filling trips that I’ve taken in a while.

Honestly, something that I really took for granted in Victoria was being able to go for a drive.
Like, a cruise down the road, windows down, music playing.
Another thing? How friendly everyone is.
It was clear how inclusive spaces were. People would say hi to you on the street.

Victoria is a magical place. ✨

Happy 2nd gotcha day to our beautiful boy.
We joke that we birthed you, because you are a perfect mixture of both your dad and I that any other explanation doesn’t make sense.

You fill our lives with joy, a little mischief, and a whole lot of cute. Thank you for getting us outside every day, even in the winter. For loving us, and opening up to us more and more everyday.

We were just talking to the barista who was loving on you this week that you went through a lot to get to us. We will never forget that, and always be grateful that it brought you to us.

I love that you love a sunbeam, a nap and a treat. That you, like your dad, get reaaaal sleepy at night time and get excited when it’s time to go to bed.

You love a routine, like me. Knowing what’s next. Also like me, you are a little sassy when you want to be. 😅
I love that when it’s time to go out for your walk, you check to make sure that I’m still getting dressed, and calmly sit waiting, always a little in the way, so that we couldn’t forget that it is time.

Otherwise? You’re snoozing. And I love that for you.
Cheers to 2 years, but cheers to the bajillion more we have to go (dad says that you’re never dying, and I choose to believe him.)
