Not just smiling about a time or result, but also smiling about the journey Hyrox is giving me and the people i meet along the way 😊. For me the process is always the meaningful part, only you see the work you put in and the suffering you get to choose. Even when you share the journey with others, they don’t see it all… you do. 💫

Things every cyclist should appreciate… but most don’t 😳

Swipe left to discover the small details riders often overlook, the ones that separate strong legs from a whole athlete🙌

Tag someone who needs this, and save it…because raw power alone won’t get you to the podium. 🧠💪💨🙌

Dare to dream 💭😊

In 2016, I took a risk by combining cyclocross with road racing. Nowadays, it’s common to mix disciplines at that level, but back then an off roader racing on the road wasn’t really seen as the thing to do 😜. Up until that point, cyclocross was my specialty, but it’s not an Olympic sport—the road is. I didn’t start that year aiming for the Olympic Games; I did it to become a better athlete and to switch things up and ensure I continued to progress. Cyclocross relies on individual effort, but road racing is all about teamwork, which appealed to me. It took the pressure off and opened up new opportunities.
•
Our team at the time, Boels Dolmans, had an incredibly successful year, winning nearly everything in sight. As the season progressed, I began to believe the Olympic Games could be possible. The seed was planted, and I went all in. I learned, made mistakes, and ultimately turned the dream into a reality. As a kid I wanted to go to the Olympics, but I never expected it to happen. Yet it did.
•
This post is a reminder that if you truly want something, work hard, commit, believe in yourself, and surround yourself with supportive people. Then, anything is possible. ☺️

Keep on dreaming ☺️🤜

Best of luck to everyone competing in the games this time around, cannot wait to watch 🙌🤜

A little escape to Majorca ❤️ …Exactly what we all needed. A recharge by the sea, amazing food, lots of play and of course some fitness squeezed in too…because that’s the only way to stay sane with this crazy crew …no chance of rest here 🤯😅☀️🌊 by @nikkibrammeier

You love cross, but are you actually doing the things that will make you faster? 👀

It’s not always about more intervals, more hours on the turbo or buying another set of tyres.

Sometimes it’s the basics.

The corner you keep braking for.
The acceleration you don’t make.
The line you follow without thinking.
The gel you leave until lap five.
The skills you keep putting off practising.

Little things. Repeated every lap. Every race.

That can be the frustrating bit. Because a lot of the time, the speed is there. You’re just giving it away.

So, be honest. Which one are you guilty of? 😁

….if your answer is all of them, at least you’ve got a training plan.

Share this with a mate who needs reminding 🤪

Confidence isn’t something you wait for. It’s something you build.

One of the biggest things sport has taught me is that confidence doesn’t come from telling yourself you’re good enough. It comes from the evidence you build over time. The training, the preparation and the days you show up even when you don’t feel like it.

After losing a close teammate in a training accident, I went into a cyclocross season feeling lost and uncertain. I didn’t have all the answers, and I certainly didn’t feel confident.

But I kept showing up.

I focused on my sport, the work in front of me and the things I could control when so much else felt beyond my control.

Looking back, I realise that, without knowing it, I was proving to myself that I could keep going through one of the hardest periods I remember.

That experience changed how I think about confidence.

You don’t have to feel confident to take the next step. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly how things will work out.

Sometimes, confidence comes afterwards, when you look back and realise what you’ve been capable of all along.

So, when doubt creeps in, remember the work you’ve put in and the challenges you’ve already overcome and if you’re struggling to believe in yourself right now, don’t wait until that feeling changes.

Keep showing up. Keep doing the work. Keep building the evidence. ☺️

You might not feel confident yet, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t becoming stronger.

Anyway, have you done your recovery ride, hit your protein target and got your 8 hours of sleep?

Or are we just out here giving advice we have absolutely no intention of taking ourselves? 🫠🤪

Something I’ve talked about before, but sitting here with my bowl of porridge this morning, I was thinking about just how much my relationship with food and fuelling has changed.

For a big chunk of my cycling career, I simply wasn’t fuelling my body properly.

I was training 20–25 hours a week but skipping breakfast, not eating on the bike, coming home from 4–5 hour rides starving and still waiting until the evening to eat. I’d use meal replacements, obsess over portions and let the number on the scales dictate how I felt about myself.

After suffering with RED-S for a long period of time, I finally started to understand just how important fuelling was and how much under-fuelling could affect you.

But knowing that and actually changing my relationship with food were two different things.

Even after retiring from cycling, I spent years still looking at my body, criticising myself and using food against myself.

I think as time had passed after having kids it became a a huge turning point for me. It made me realise just how flipping amazing our bodies are and how much they do for us.

Then, over the last couple of years, getting into Hyrox and strength training really changed my mindset again.

I stopped thinking so much about how my body looked and started thinking about what it could DO.

I started eating for the work I was doing. I wanted to feel strong, have energy, recover well and perform.

I’m not saying now that I’m 100% confident all the time …I’m definitely not. But I’m so much more comfortable in my body because I’ve learned to appreciate it for what it can do, rather than constantly judging it for how it looks.

So if you’re struggling with food, fuelling or body image, I justs want to say this;

Your body is not your enemy.

Fuel it well.
Treat it well.
Be proud of what it can do.

You don’t need to punish your body into being worthy.

And if sharing my experience helps even one person rethink the way they’re treating themselves, then it’s worth talking about. ❤️ by @nikkibrammeier

Septembers reminded me, you only need a little to own a lot. ☺️🫶

Long walks.
Health.
Good food.
Good people.
Being outdoors.
Playing with my kids.
Running.
Moving my body in different ways.

Never taken for granted ☺️🫶 by @nikkibrammeier

This is what progress in rehab actually looks like. 🤍

These are some of the things I’ve noticed in my own rehab over the last few weeks and it feels goooooood!

Because progress isn’t always a huge milestone or suddenly being “back to normal.”

Sometimes it’s:

→ Understanding what aggravates you
→ Learning to modify instead of avoid
→ Doing a movement that used to make you hesitate
→ Making plans without constantly worrying about your body
→ Getting through a workout without thinking about your injury
→ Having fewer bad days
→ Knowing what to do when you have a flare up
→ Starting to trust your body again
→ And eventually, thinking about what you can achieve, rather than just what you’ve lost.

These might look like tiny things from the outside.

But when you’ve spent weeks or months working through rehab, you know how BIG these wins actually feel.

So if you’re in rehab right now, don’t only measure progress by the finish line.

Look at the little wins too.

They count. They’re worth celebrating. 🫶✨
