Gin developed thromosis on July 19. 2024, but miraculously survived. He had injuries to his left front and bag leg. But through treatment and rehab. He is now able to clmb stairs. However, in July of this year! he develooped pleural effufsion and it removed rootinely. In September he lost his appetite and the amount of fluid in his pleural effusion increased. So for the pastweek I have taking him to the vet every day to have the fluid drained. We apologize for not updating the children who come to see Gin and our customers who love him that he was seriously ill as we were operating the cafe and did not want to worry them. I followed the thread of art and somehow discovered a path that would allow me to live" (Yayoi Kusama) Today, I'm reviewing a book that was a gift, sent to me by dear Angel Gin, Wabi & their meowmy, directly from Japan! @nikkicafehongo YAYOI KUSAMA PRINT WORKS: REPETITION & PROLIFERATION This is a comprehensive 256-page book showcasing 363 of Kusama's prints. It highlights her signature motifs and it also includes original poetry written by her. Bilingual (Japanese-English). 255 pages. Second edition from 2025. ➡️ Yayoi Kusama is considered the most important and successful contemporary Japanese artist in the world. Born in 1929, she is famous for her pioneering immersive installations, iconic Infinity Mirror Rooms, and obsessive use of vibrant polka dots. She has channeled her lifelong struggles with mental health and hallucinations into her art. Since the 70s, she has voluntarily lived in a psychiatric facility, where she continues to create art every day, at 97 years old! A massive 7-decade retrospective of her work is currently touring Europe. 👉Pic 2: Gin & I visited one of Yayoi Kusama's art insatallations called "Flowers That Speak All About My Heart Given to the Sky" (2018) 👉Pic 3: Gin is wearing one of the outfits from the Yayoi Kusama+Louis Vuitton collab. Today, we travelled to Casablanca, Morocco’s bustling economic heart! First, we visited Hassan II Mosque, an architectural marvel, & one of the largest mosques in the world, with the world's tallest minaret. We adored the beautiful water fountains, outside & in the ablution rooms, which we drunk from, we couldn't believe the opulence of the prayer halls, ceilings & doors! Beauty beyond measure! Then we went to The Casablanca Cathedral, a striking landmark, uniquely blending Art Deco architecture with traditional neo-Gothic & Moorish influences! We loved the vibrant modernist stained-glass windows, which we climbed on! We had a supercilious lunch at La Sqala, a Moorish restaurant set within a historic 18th-century fortified bastion! We continued to Mahkama du Pacha, the former regional parliament & court! Athena, Ariadne, Oscar, Maya, Versace, angel Armani, Fujin & Sune marvelled at the main hall! Victor & Mochi inspected the upper floor & Anna, Bertha, Zara, Nitro, Bluebell & Milo had a drink from the garden fountain. Kato, Wabi, angel Gin, Asher, Eleven & Cookie climbed on the roof to enjoy the view! Loki, Bear, Kato, PJ, Cloe, Peaches, Lorenzo, Mimosa & I loved the marble columns & Junior, Pruidence & Dora flew around us! We continued to Casablanca's medina for a last shopping spree of beautiful handmade bronze artifacts, silver tea pots & colourful shoes for our pawrents, & got them tummy olives from the ginormous olive market! At the Pâtisserie Bennis Habous, a legendary, family-owned bakery, we ate delicious traditional Moroccan sweets straight from the trays! To walk all the food off, we went to La Corniche seaside promenade on our way to the Phare el-Hank Lighthrouse to watch the spectacular ocean views! Next, we visited Rick's Café, a beautifully designed replica of the bar from the iconic film Casablanca! We had the yummiest pawtini! We continued to Al Mounia, restaurant where we had a special catnip shisha & a splendid dinner! From there, we strolled to Le Doge Hotel! We had delicious mint tea & treats in the bar before having a huge catnip pawty in our bedroom!
