If you ever get the chance to visit the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco, I highhhly recommend doing so.

Wildfires aren’t just a land problem 🔥🌳
Post-fire sediment enters the Mediterranean and affects everything from microbes to marine animals.
-> Everything is connected !! As always 🌎🫂
A little reminder that protecting the sea also means protecting the land around it.

Let’s work towards less forest fires next summer

🇦🇱 After visiting Albania, including Sazan island, last summer, I realized that that would probably be one of the last chances for me, or anyone, to see the island. I felt the need to speak on this topic, as Albania and its people were so beautiful, kind, genuine and welcoming to me (and ma granny - swipe to see the queen enjoying our vacation😎).

🌊 Albanias coast is more than a development opportunity. From Vjosa-Narta’s flamingos to Sazan’s wild shores, these places are part of a fragile Mediterranean ecosystem.
🦩 The Flamingo Revolution is a reminder that development should not come at the cost of the nature that makes these places special.

🌞 Some places are worth leaving wild🫂

You might have seen it on Mediterranean beaches: thick brown piles of leaves along the shoreline - sometimes accompanied by an interesting smell 🥴

It could be easy to think: Why has no one cleaned this up, I can’t even swim properly…😠

But those leaves are often Posidonia oceania -> and they are doing more for the beach than we might realize.
Posidonia, with her majestic name 👑, is a marine flowering plant endemic to the Mediterranean.
Its underwater meadows stabilize the seabed, support biodiversity, store carbon and help protect the coastline.
The accumulated leaves that are washed ashore help trap sand, soften the impact of waves and provide organic matter to beach and dune ecosystems.
So yes, they can be shtinky.
But
Sometimes the messy beach is the functioning one🌿🌊🏝️
