Nikki’s first real adult vacation ✨

I am currently going through one of the hardest experiences I have had to face in my adult life and can’t really talk to anyone about it. It’s the kind of situation that my dad’s smart lawyer brain would have been very helpful in. He also would be extremely comforting and know just what to say to get me through. I posted on my story a couple days ago about how much I wanted to be able to talk to him right now.

Well today, I was digging through my chest of YA mementos looking for some music. It’s important to know that this chest is full of many treasures including MANY hand written notes on scraps of paper. IYKYK. I was skimming through some of these notes because they still bring me so much joy. Eventually I pick one up and notice it was signed: “dad”
This stopped me in my tracks so quick. While not the same as getting to confide in him in person, these words are ones I needed to hear in this moment. I have no memory of this note from my dad, I have no idea when he gave it to me, and I don’t remember ever putting it in this chest. Obviously I have just forgotten but it still feels so special finding it now.

“And against all odds you’ve flourished”

I am going to keep pushing and growing even when it’s incredibly difficult to do so.
