2026 Open Call Finalist – Nikko Knösch

Swedish photographer and printer based in Stockholm, working mainly with black and white analog photography. His images move between intimacy and distance, capturing what remains unsaid between people. Alongside his own practice, he works with artists and institutions in Sweden, producing fine art prints and assisting in the making of exhibitions and books. Since starting photography in 2019, he has shown his work both in Sweden and abroad, most recently in a solo exhibition at Galerie Leneuf Sinibaldi in Paris. He is currently developing two long-term projects, Ömsom and Folkungagatan. by @nikkoknosch

Folkungagatan is a photographic exploration of space and human presence. The series captures the harsh urban landscape against the quiet resilience of its people. Black-and-white images with stark, energetic blacks enhance a sense of disorientation, inside and outside at once, included and excluded. This mirrors my own experience: outgoingly shy, torn between connection and observation.
