ROMEO & SEAHORSE (English translation) is out now!

When l put this book out in Danish two years ago, it it did feel scary how personal it is, now it just feels right. Thanks to @cipher_press for believing in this, and thanks to @lauren_j_joseph for connecting us. Also thanks to my Danish publisher @forlagetgladiator for believing in the book in the first place.

I reached out to some of my favourite writers to ask for blurbs I could use for the publication. Apart from Lauren, these were @mbsycamore @travisjeppesen @chriszeischegg and @thomasmoronic - thank you so much for your encouragements, I'm so happy and proud to have your praise on the cover.

I got a zine of beautifully cringe-core poems from @kalikean and I wrote a poem as a response to one of them. I wrote it in ten minutes in a workshop. The prompt was about thinking of a poem as a funhouse of warped mirrors. I think I'll keep his zine in my bag, at least till the end of the summer 🧡 by @nikolajism

"In my twenties, I was briefly part of the 'dunst' performance group in Copenhagen. While most of us wallowed in female sluttiness, I was more interested in exploring masculinity. Drag can be both disguise and self-expression, but I always found I needed something personal at stake to make sure it wasn't just a parody. I started binding my chest when going out, left my flannel shirt half open so the sports tape would show, and also glued on a moustache from the tips of my own hair. Since I was more interested in the process than in any sort of final illusion, I called my character Sally. I was surprised to see how many femme lesbians thought Sally was hot, and even more surprised that the attraction was mutual. It never went beyond making out at parties, but it made me feel seen in ways I rarely did when performing masculinity for cis men.

I remember this photo series I did at Queeruption in Barcelona. I started in full drag king attire – baggy jeans, a green hoodie, aviator sunglasses – and ended up completely naked. It was a strip routine I'd done on stage several times already. First I revealed my binder, then a pair of old-school men's briefs I'd stuffed with white tennis socks, deliberately spilling out over the waistline, and then finally cut it all off with a pair of scissors. The photographer was a lesbian from Hamburg. She sent me the photos afterwards – I now sadly only have the first in the series – and she told me how she'd shown them to a lot of her friends, and they'd all been surprised by my naked body in the end, because even though they thought my drag was great and convincing, they'd all had the same assumptions about the girl I'd be underneath."

HIRE ME! (with casual photo)

Much as I appreciate the three-penny operas, I’d quite like to find my way back to financial independence. So I’m looking for paid work, ideally the kind I enjoy and know I’m good at. This includes:

WRITING
I’m the author of five novels in Danish and translated one of them into English myself.
I did four years at journalism school, including two internships.
I’ve written for the Copenhagen University Post, queer magazines Panbladet and Siegessäule, and literary magazines Standart and Kritiker.

TRANSLATING
I translate into Danish from English, Swedish, and German.

SPEAKING / READINGS
I’m always happy to present my work, plus most of my writing draws on lived experience.
Central themes include HIV/AIDS, chemsex and addiction, consent and sexualised violence in queer scenes, as well as pop culture, queer culture, and nightlife.

DRAMATURGY, CONSULTING
I studied film for two years. I worked for two years on a project supported by the Danish Film Institute and as a dramaturg on an independent production.
I also work consciously with dramaturgy in my novels.
I know how efficient storytelling works, while having an understanding of queer issues you don't want to compromise with.

DRAMATURGY WORKSHOPS
I’ve taught workshops on the three-act structure, a tool every writer, filmmaker, and storyteller should at least be familiar with.
It’s also a great framework for therapeutic life writing, finding your story, whether for yourself or to share with others.

KINK WORKSHOPS
I’ve run workshops on conscious cruising and pain play for beginners, working with clothes pegs.
I’d love to repeat these or develop new formats depending on your needs and desires.

PORN / KINK PERFORMANCE
I’ve worked with directors like Courtney Trouble, Axel Abysse, and Pigboy, and performed at venues such as KitKatClub in Berlin, Wasteland in Amsterdam, and Manifest in Copenhagen.
My specialities include BDSM, fisting, and dogplay, but I’m open to anything queer and outside the box.

Also, after tiptoeing around this for quite a while, I think it's time to grab the unicorn by the horn:

On top of all the hot, joyful juiciness, I felt so much non-binary gender euphoria this weekend, I literally woke up last night crying happy tears.

In a way it's nothing new. It's naming something that's always been there, but if you didn't clock me already, you may consider this my official coming-out.

DK to DE queerlit translation alert: A Univerity friend group reunites in this lazy, sexy, cool summer house drama. They brunch, swim, and flirt - discuss if it's possible to read Virginia Woolf in a totally not performative way.

The characters also think a lot about what kind of people they are. But to be fair, they seem like the kinds or people who think a lot about this. And if you tell any queer-ish Millennial Dane, that you are reading it, you'll quite likely end up in a 'which on of them are you' discussion.

There are unforgettable moments of cringe in this book, but my favourite parts are actually those of comptence. Moments when you think you already know the drama about to come, but instead the characters exceed you expectations and show themselves as capable of much more than you think.

The unxpected competence reminds me, without further comparison, of Tory Peter's 'Detransition Baby' and Tom Tykwer's poly-drama 'Drei'. Since fiction generally feeds of conflict (since it's what we expect), the most profound drama is often the one that doesn't happen.

So if you are going to a summer house, if you want a book to read by the lake - a beach read with substance - I can't come up with a better recommendation.

This German translation came out last week, and this copy was my birthday present for @floyeahh who already finished it. The book also exits in English unde the title 'Waist Deep'.
